HINILING kahapon ni dating Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Administrator Mocha Uson sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) na tingnan ang mental capability ni dating vice president Jejomar Binay na sinasabing nakararanas na ng dementia o memory disorder.
Sa isang pahinang manifestation na inihain kahapon ni Uson sa Comelec, iginiit na wala siyang kahit anong galit kay Binay ngunit karapatan niya bilang botante at mamamayan ng bansa na isapubliko ito lalo at may posibilidad na makapasok sa Magic 12 ng Senado sa darating na eleksiyon.
“As someone who loves the country, I am concerned about the possibility that a leading candidate for the Senate may no longer be capable of fulfilling his duties to the people and the Republic after he is elected,” paliwanag ni Uson.
Aniya, sa kasalukuyan ay hindi na maayos ang kalagayan ni Binay at mapapatunayan ito sa madalang na partisipasyon sa campaign rallies sa nakalipas na dalawang buwan.
“For those who have been following the former Vice President’s career, his silence is completely uncharacteristic. And given the reports on his supposedly failing health, quite alarming. Mr. Binay has been among the most vocal critics of our beloved President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, yet during this period where his voice needs to be heard the most — he has stayed in the shadows,” dagdag ni Mocha.
Sinabi ni Uson, kung may dinaranas na mental health condition si Binay ay hindi dapat magbulag-bulagan ang Comelec para tiyakin ang kanilang mandato na sinomang tumatakbo ay nasa tamang pag-iisip at kalusugan.
“This issue is not something that we can simply turn a blind eye to. The fact is Mr. Binay is among those who have a good chance of landing one of the twelve vacant seats in the Senate. This is a situation that must not be taken lightly, as it would be a grave injustice to the voters — and to the country ultimately — if he is elected but could not perform his functions because he is not physically or mentally able to do so. It would also be a tragedy if many of the other qualified and deserving candidates are denied the opportunity to serve the country by someone who is no longer able to function to the full requirements of the office of Senator”paliwanag ni Uson.
Umaasa si Uson, hindi totoo ang lumalabas na report na may dementia si Binay gayonman kung maging totoo ito ay dapat maging transparent sa isyu ang Comelec. (HATAW News Team)
