Labing-apat na kompanya mula sa Pilipinas ang kasama sa ika-24 na Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) habang apat na Filipino film projects ang napabilang sa ika-18 na Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF).
Nagsimula na kahapon ang virtual Hong Kong FILMART at magtatagal ito hanggang Agosto 29 at ang online HAF ay mula Agosto 27 hanggang 29. Magkakaroon ng Country Session webinar ang Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) sa HK FILMART sa paanyaya ng Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
Ang FDCP ang nag-sponsor ng production companies para sa Philippine Pavilion sa HK FILMART para mabigyan sila ng oportunidad na makatagpo ng project collaborators, makahanap ng project funding at mga posibilidad sa sales at distribution, at mapalawak ang kanilang network ng contacts sa international film circuit.
Ngayong taon, ang Virtual Philippine Pavilion ng FDCP ay may 11 na production companies: Philippine Film Studios, Inc., Project 8 Projects, Betsy D. Film Productions, Epicmedia Productions Inc., Atom & Anne Mediaworks Corp., Indiego Productions, CMB Films, Sisu Productions, Beginnings At Twenty Plus Inc., VY/AC Productions, at Blindwill Pictures.
Magaganap ang pavilion meetings sa apat na araw ng FILMART, at magkakaroon ng Let’s Create Together! webinar ang FDCP sa Agosto 29. Sa pamamagitan ng live one-hour event na ito, ipakikilala ng FDCP ang tatlong insentibo ng FilmPhilippines sa international productions. Ito ay ang Film Location Incentive Program (FLIP), International Co-production Fund (ICOF), at Film Location Engagement Desk (FLEX).
Tampok sa Let’s Create Together! presentation sina Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, FDCP Chairperson at CEO Liza Diño-Seguerra, at ang FilmPhilippines Office. Ipalalabas din sa Country Session ang dalawang video collaborations ng DOT at FDCP para sa Let’s Create Together! campaign. Ipakikilala rin sa webinar ang 11 kompanyang kasama sa Philippine Pavilion.
Dadalo sa webinar sina Department of Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) Assistant Director Anthony Rivera, Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Danilo Lim, at League of Cities of the Philippines National President Evelio Leonardia.
Ang iba pang dadalo ay sina Consorcio Olivan ng Bureau of Internal Revenue at Maria Teresa Loring, Rodrigo Aguilar, at Gliceria Cademia mula sa DTI. Ang mga kinatawan ng DOT ay sina Woodrow Maquiling, Jr., Sharlene Batin, Howard Lance Uyking, Elisa Jane Camunggol, Ernesto Teston, at Dee Mandigma. Samantala, ang iba pang kompanya na kasama sa HK FILMART ay ang GMA Network, VIVA Communications, at Rocketsheep Studio.
Kaugnay naman sa HAF, ang Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah Vs. The Amazonistas of Planet X ni Avid Liongoren at Some Nights I Feel Like Walking ni Petersen Vargas ay kasama sa 24 na fiction projects na tampok sa HAF. Mayroon ding siyam na dokumentaryo na kasama sa HAF. Sa pamamagitan ng HAF, may pagkakataon sina Liongoren at Vargas na makahanap ng karagdagang international na suporta at kooperasyon para sa kanilang mga proyekto.
Ang ibang mga proyekto sa HAF ay productions o co-productions mula sa Taiwan, China, Canada, Hong Kong, Afghanistan, South Korea, Israel, Mexico, Bangladesh, Thailand, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Singapore, the Netherlands, at France.
Ang Filipino-French na proyektong Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah Vs. The Amazonistas of Planet X ay nagwagi sa Open Doors Locarno na natanggap nito ang Development Support Grant. Ang proyektong ito ay co-produced ni Liongoren ng Rocketsheep Studio at Franck Priot ng Ghosts City Films sa France.
Nakamit ng proyektong ito ang SEAFIC Award at SEAFIC-HAF Award sa 2019 Southeast Asia Fiction Film Lab (SEAFIC). Ang Some Nights I Feel Like Walking, na produced nina Alemberg Ang at Jade Francis Castro, ay sa ilalim ng VY/AC Productions.
Dalawa pang proyekto mula sa Pilipinas ang kasama sa HAF sa Works-in-Progress (WIP) na platform na may layuning tulungan ang filmmakers na makakuha ng post-production funds, sales agents, at film festival support. Ito ay ang documentary project na Last Days at Sea ni Venice Atienza, na siya ring producer kasama si Wu Fan, at ang fiction project na The Double ni Adolf Alix, Jr. Ang proyektong ito na may drama, horror, at suspense ay produced nina Alix, Jericho Rosales, at Kim Jones. Mayroong 12 documentaries at 10 fictions sa WIP.
Idaraos sana ang HK FILMART at HAF nang mas maaga kasabay ng ika-44 na Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) mula Marso hanggang Abril. Nakansela ang HKIFF dahil sa coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) na pandemya,
