6% GDP Palasyo deadma

WALANG pakialam ang Palasyo kung tuluyang bumagsak ang gross domestic product (GDP) ng bansa dahil sa pagpa­pahalaga ng administrasyong Duterte sa kali­kasan.

Ito ang sinabi kaha­pon ni Presidential Spokes­man Harry Roque kasunod nang mabagal na paglago ng ekonomiya na umabot lamang sa anim porsiyento sa second quarter ng 2018 o mas mababa sa 6.6% sa first quarter ng kasalukuyang taon.

Ang GDP ay kumaka­tawan sa lahat ng pro­dukto at serbisyo na ginawa sa loob ng ating bansa.

“If GDP will further fall because of the desire of the President to protect the environment, so be it. We’re investing in the future and not just in the present,”  ayon kay Roque.

Tinukoy ni Socio­economic Planning Secre­tary Ernesto Pernia ang sanhi ng slowdown sa pagsasara sa Boracay at mga regulasyon sa sektor nang pagmimina.

Paliwanag ni Roque, hindi binubuo ng admi­nis­trasyong Duterte ang polisiya base lamang sa ekonomiya at kailangan din gamitin ni Pangulong Duterte ang kanyang kapangyarihan na bigyan proteksiyon ang kalika­san.

“He (Duterte) has given further priority—higher priority to the protection of the environ­ment – and he makes no apologies for it,” aniya.

Naniniwala si Roque na hindi dapat ikabahala ang 6% GDP dahil malaki pa rin ito.

“Of course, we’re also saddened by the fact that we failed to meet targets. We will do everything to meet them; if we don’t, we’ll find out why and we’ll try to achieve the further targets for the rest of the year,” sabi ni Roque.
