Congw Lucy grateful sa paanyaya nina Ping at Tito

NGAYON pa lang, isa na si Congresswoman Lucy Torres Gomez sa inaabangan ang magiging pahayag sa tanong kung tatakbo ba siya sa mas mataas na posisyon sa darating na halalan.

Sa tanghaliang inihandog niya sa media via zoom conference, maraming kuwento si Madam Lucy sa ikot ng buhay niya. Inamin niyang tatakbo siya pero hindi pa siya desidido kung anong posisyon ito. Marami na ang nagsasabing sa Senado ito tatakbo.

Ayon kay Lucy, “I confirm talking with SP Sotto. During our conversation, he asked me if I was interested in joining the senatorial slate that he and Sen. Ping would field during the 2022 elections. While I am keeping my options open in terms of running for higher office, I have yet to decide if I should do that or stay in Ormoc and serve my hometown.

“I am grateful that Sen. Ping and SP Sotto have invited me to be a part of their slate. I feel honored to be included in their personal choice of senatorial candidates for 2022. They have presented themselves as candidates who, this early, already have an actual plan in terms of moving the country forward. I admire their unapologetic, straight-to-the-point and confident pronouncements on how they would lead our nation under a new normal setting. 

“I am a member of my political party, the PDP-Laban. I would also like to thank my party’s selection committee for considering me as part of their line-up. 

“I will decide at the proper time if I would run for the Senate or not. There are many factors I must consider and evaluate before I make a decision. And over and above that, we all have this pandemic to fight. All talks about elections is only secondary to that. We must unite and not just fight but win the war against Covid-19, as one.”

At sa pagsisilbi naman sa kanyang posisyon ngayon sa Kongreso, “Being in Congress has changed me in a positive way. It has strengthened me. And learned so much from it. Maraming life lessons, work lessons. Nag-improve ang character ko because I made some very good friends. As far as achievements are concerned, ang mga tao na magsasalita at magsasabi how In have served them. Ayaw kong magbuhat ng sariling bangko.”

Sa kabila ng ilang seryosong pinag-usapan, pinasaya ni Lucy ang press sa mga nakatatawa niyang anecdotes.

Aliw na aliw naman ako sa kung paano niyang bigkasin ang salitang “gansa” (geese). Na tulad sa mga manok at turkey (alam kaya niya na pabo ito in Tagalog), at iba pa nilang mga alaga ni Mayor Goma ay araw-araw niyang kasamang rumarampa sa kanilang munting paraiso bilang friends na nga raw niya amg mga ito!
