SUMIKLAB ang galit ng mga lokal na residente kaugnay sa viral video ng isang backhoe na sumisira sa mga corals at bato sa shoreline sa beach resort sa Barangay Virgen, Anda, sa lalawigan ng Bohol.
Kaugnay nito, lumakas ang panawagan ng mga residente at mga environmentalists na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) at concerned local government units (LGUs) kaugnay sa insidente.
Makikita sa naturang video, na kumakalat at viral na sa iba’t ibang social media platforms, ang isang heavy equipment na nag-o-operate sa mababaw na bahagi ng dagat sa harap mismo ng isang beach resort, na sinasabing sumisira sa mga buhay na corals at mga natural rock formations — na lubhang ikinagagalit ng mga lokal na residente dahil sa pagsira sa kalikasan.
“This is putting Bohol in the international spotlight for all the wrong reasons,” ayon kay Bohol local environmental activist Atty. Makdo Castañares.
“We are known worldwide for our pristine beaches and vibrant marine life. What happened in Anda is an assault on our natural heritage,” dagdag nito.
Sinabi ni Castañares, walang building permit ang nagpapahintulot na makasira ng kalikasan, ang mga ganitong aktibidad umano ay isang violation sa national environmental laws katulad ng Republic Act (RA) No. 7586 o ang National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Act na inamyendahan sa RA 11038.
“No permit gives anyone the right to destroy corals or alter the coastline. These actions are not only illegal — they are deeply irresponsible,” aniya.
Nababahala si Castañares na ang mga ganitong aktibidad ay bahagi ng lumalaking mga insidente ng environmental abuse sa nasabing lalawigan.
“We saw the public outrage after the damage done to the Chocolate Hills. Now it’s happening in Anda. How many more of our natural treasures must suffer before real accountability is enforced?” aniya sabay tanong na, “are there powerful individuals who are behind this project?”
Nanawagan si Castañares sa DENR, sa Environmental Management Bureau at sa local government ng Anda na agad magsagawa ng imbestigasyon at papanagutin ang mga lumalabag sa batas.
“The people of Bohol are waiting for answers and decisive action. Our environment is not just our identity — it is our future. We must protect it at all costs,” aniya. (NIÑO ACLAN)
