Robinson dating nba All-Star namatay, edad 53 anyos

KINUMPIRA ni John Lufkins, father-in-law, sa NBC nung Sabado na ang dating NBA All-Star at 18-year veteran Clifford Robinson ay namayapa na.

Hindi isinapubliko ang naging sanhi ng kamatayan.   Nasa edad 53 na siya, ayon sa The Associated Press.

Naniniwala si Lufkins na matatandaan ng NBA fans si Robinson   ”as a fun-loving and caring person who loved family get-togethers.”

“He enjoyed cooking for everyone, especially ribs,” pahayag pa niya sa  statement. “Life was an amazing adventure to him and he enjoyed every minute of it. He will be sadly missed by those that knew him.”

Si Robinson, na kilala sa pangalang “Uncle Cliffy” ay na-draft ng Portland Trail Blazers nung 1989 at naglaro sa team sa loob ng walong taon, na tinulungan ang prangkisa na makarating sa NBA Finals nung 1990 at 1992.

“His personality and energy were unmatched, and his contributions on the court were unmistakable, helping the Trail Blazers into the playoffs each of his eight seasons with the team,” pahayag ng  Trail Blazers sa statement. “His streak of 461 consecutive games played with the Trail Blazers still stands as a franchise record, which is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the team. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Cliff’s family and loved ones. Uncle Cliffy will be greatly missed by the Trail Blazers and all of Rip City.”

Naglaro rin si Robinson sa Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors at sa New Jersey Nets, na ngayon ay naging Brooklyn Nets nung 2012.

Nung 1993, si Robinson ay ginawaran ng NBA’s “Sixth Man of the Year”  at naging NBA All-Star pagkaraan ng isang taon.   Nakasampa rin siya bilang league’s All-Defensive Second Team nung 2000 at 2002.

Naglabas din ng statement ang Golden State Warriors tungkol kay Robinson.

“Clifford was a consummate professional who loved the game and played with an incredible sense of both joy and intensity. We extend our thoughts and prayers to family and friends of ‘Uncle Cliffy’ during this time,” the team tweeted.

Si Robinson ay ipinanganak sa Buffalo, New York at bago siya lumahok sa NBA, naglaro siya ng basketball sa University of Connecticut na kung saan ay tinulungan niya ang eskuwela para manalo   sa National Invitational Tournament Championship nung 1988.  Pinangangalanan siya sa UConn’s All-Century Team nung 1999.
