‘Bloodless’ tokhang wish ng Palasyo

UMAASA ang Palasyo na hindi na magiging ‘madugo’ ang muling pagpapatupad ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ng Oplan Tokhang.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, maaaring natuto na sa karanasan ang PNP kaya’t tiniyak sa publiko na iiral ang rule of law sa implementasyon ng anti-illegal drugs operation.

“(T)he PNP has said they want this tokhang operation to be less bloody. We are hoping it will be and we welcome the statement by the PNP as reaffirming their commitment to the rule of law,” sabi ni Roque sa press briefing kahapon.

Sa ilalim ng bagong Tokhang campaign, hindi puwedeng arestohin ng mga pulis ang mga pinaghihinalaang drug users at ang puwede lang nilang gawin ay bisitahin ang bahay ng mga drug suspect sa kanilang listahan.

Wala aniyang direktiba si Pangulong Duterte sa PNP hinggil sa pagbabalik ng Oplan Tokhang.

“No instructions. These guidelines of the PNP are voluntarily made. And of course, they are now conducting Tokhang also with the involvement of PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency) or that has retained the lead in the implementation of the Dangerous Drugs Law,” ani Roque.

Batay sa ulat, mahigit 3,000 katao na ang napatay sa anti-illegal drugs operations ng PNP mula nang maluklok sa Malacañang si Pangulong Duterte noong 2016.
