Imee desmayado sa ‘di paglagda ni SP Chiz sa contempt order vs special envoy

DESMAYADO si Senadora Imee Marcos, chairman ng Senate committee on foreign relations, nang hindi lagdaan ni Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero ang contempt order laban kay Special Envoy on Transnational Crimes Ambassador Markus Lacanilao.

               Hindi lang desmayado kundi mapanganib, ayon sa Senadora, ang pagpapabayang makalaya si Lacanilao.

Nauna rito, si Lacanilao ay pinatawan ng cited for contempt sa ginaganap pagdinig ng Senate committee on foreign relations, ukol sap ag-aresto kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte noong 11 Marso 2025.

Ginawa ni Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa ang mosyon matapos nilang tanungin si Lacanilao hinggil sa International Criminal Court (ICC) Transfer of Custody para sa pag-aresto kay Duterte, bilang kinatawan ng Philippine government.  

Ayon kay Marcos dapat i-contempt si Lacanilao dahil sa pagsisinungaling pagbibigay ng nakalilitong pahayag sa pag-aresto kay Duterte.

Dakong 10:00 pm, si Lacanilao ay pinalaya na ng Senado, ayon kay Marcos.

“As expected, Senate President Chiz Escudero refused to sign the contempt order. Just like he refused to sign the subpoenas. This time, he went even further — he ordered Lacanilao’s release, in spite of the ambassador’s blatant and repeated lies before the Senate committee on foreign relations,” pahayag ng Senadora.

Inamin ni Marcos na inaasahan na niya ng desisyon ni Escudero lalo pa’t hindi rin nilagdaan ang subpoena laban sa ilang gabinete ni Pangulong Ferdinang “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

“This isn’t just disappointing. It’s dangerous. When the Senate’s authority is ignored this openly, what’s the point of investigations? What’s the point of truth,” ani Marcos.

Aniya, ang hindi paglagda ni Escudero sa contempt order ay maituturing na ‘terrible precedent. (NIÑO ACLAN)
