GEA-3 AUCTION TINIYAK TAPOS NGAYONG 2024

TINIYAK ng Department of Energy (DOE) sa mga mambabatas na ang 3^rd Green Energy Auction (GEA-3) ay matatapos sa taong kasalukuyan.

“Our target for the Green Energy Auction 3 is to finish it before the end of the year such that the pumped storage hydro, (more than) 3,000 megawatts (MW), will be able to come in five years from now,” ani Energy Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara sa kanyang pagdalo sa budget deliberation ng Senate energy committee na pinamumunuan ni Senadora Pia Cayetano.

Maging si Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla na dumalo sa pagdinig ay sumang-ayon sa pahayag ni Guevara.

Ayon kay Cayetano, maraming investors ang naghihintay sa susunod na GEA.

“I understand we have investors who are ready to get it done. And we need it because this will address Sen. Risa’s (Hontiveros) and my concern, and all the other renewable energy advocates’ concerns because we’ll have the storage,” ani Cayetano sa pagdinig.

“We keep on saying that is the problem why we cannot fully embrace renewables as fast as we want to,” dagdag ni Cayetano.

Ang GEA-3 ay saklaw ng non-feed-in-tariff (Non-FIT) na isang eligible renewable energy technologies katulad ng geothermal, impounding hydro and pumped-storage hydro sa ilalim ng  Department Circular No. DC2023-10-0029.

Ang kautusan ay ang pagkakaroon ng lists auction policy at guidelines para sa  non-FIT RE technologies sa ilalim ng GEA program.

Ang GEA-3 ay sasakop din sa run-of-river (ROR) Hydro, na akma sa FIT-eligible RE technology.

Tinatayang ang kapasidad ng isang non-FIT Eligible RE technologies ay 699 MW mula sa impounding hydro, 3,120 MW mula sa pumped storage hydro; at 380 MW mula sa  geothermal.

Kung mayroong pumped storage na lilikha ng 3,120MW ng flexible storage at generation ay magagawa ng grid na i-manage  ang variable RE (VRE) at magkaroon ng dagdag na VREs na maidaragdag sa  energy mix.

Ang Geothermal at impounding hydro sa kasalukuyan ay pinapayagan ang dependable RE technologies para magsilbing  baseload para sa  energy mix.

Target na maihatid ang impounding hydro at pumped storage hydro sa 2028 hanggang 2030 at 2024 hanggang 2030 para sa geothermal.

Tinatayang nasa 200 MW ang RE capacity mula ROR hydro na inaasahang i-auction at target na mai-deliver simula 2026 hanggang 2028. (NIÑO ACLAN)
