NAGPASALAMAT si Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray sa warm welcome sa kanya ng pamunuan para sa FIBA World Cup 2023. Isa si Catriona sa local ambassadors ng Pilipinas sa FIBA World Cup 2023 kasama ang Gilas Pilipinas na sina LA Tenorio, Gary David, Larry Fonancier, at Jeff Chan.

Ani Catrionasa isinagawang media conference kahapon sa TV5 Media Center, “Thank you also for the very warm welcome, I’m very flattered. And also thank you for this opportunity to be ambassador of the FIBA World Cup for basketball. I think it’s really the pride that is overflowing for our kababayans when we see each other excel, and what more so in the state of sports and in basketball. It reminds me of the feeling of support that I had when I represented the country on the international stage.”

Idinagdag pa ni Catriona na, “It gives me so much pride and joy. I look forward to warmly welcoming the world’s eyes and our visitors to the Philippines. I know we will have a celebration like no other.”

Si Samahan ng Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio ang nanguna sa pagpapakilala sa mga local ambassador sa One Year To Go countdown celebration tungo sa World Cup.

Dumalo rin sa mediacon para talakayin ang mga paghahanda at magaganap sa  FIBA World Cup 2023 sina Executive Director David Crocker, SBP Vice President Ricky Vargas, Executive Director Sonny Barrios gayundin ang executives ng TV5, Cignal, at One Sports. Ang TV5 Chairman na si Manuel V. Pangilinan ang Chairman Emeritus ng SBP.

Bukod sa pagpapakilala sa mga local ambassador, inilunsad din ang second phase ng FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 ticket sales na mayroong Final Phase packages. Dalawang exciting packages ang maaaring mabili ng publiko – ang Finals Ultimate Fan Pass at ang Finals Superfan Pass. Maaari namang mag-register ang fans sa “Win For All” community at https://register.worldcup.basketball at mabili ang passes sa early bird rates.

Ipagdiriwang din ng SBP ang one year to go milestone in partnership with FIBA sa August 27, 2022 na gaganapin sa SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. Iba’t ibang activities ang masasaksihan dito gaya ng Tissot Countdown Clock Launch, drone and fireworks display show, at may special guests pang dadalo at magpe-perform.

Ang Pilipinas ang magiging host ng  FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 kasama ang Japan at Indonesia bilang co-hosts.
