NAINTRIGA na kami una pa lang naming narinig ang Buko Channel. Ang ibig sabihin pala nito ay Buhay Komedya–isang 24 hour local comedy channel na magdadala ng kuwelang libangan para sa mga manonood.
Sa virtual media conference nito noong Lunes, sinabi ni Maine Mendoza na maraming aabangan sa kanyang show na #MaineGoals. Isa ang lifestule oriented show ni Maine na tampok sa Buko Originals.
“Ang daming dapat i-expect sa show na ito,” panimula ni Maine na layunin ng #MaineGoals ay isakatuparan ang kanyang ‘goals’ galing sa kanyang checklists.
“#MaineGoals is basically about taking new adventures and taking new challenges. Ako grateful ako kasi mayroon akong kasama, dalawa sila sina Chamito and si Chitchirita, ang dami naming ia-achieve na goals. Marami akong first time dito at mawi-witness din ng fans, para siyang vlog type where we will date our audience with us throughout our journey in achieving our different goals every week.
“So, ibang-iba talaga ang gagawin namin dito. Ang iba daring, ang iba exciting, ‘yung iba you didn’t expect me to do pero para sa #MaineGoals, inilaban ko ‘yan,” masayang pagbabahagi pa ni Maine.
Sinabi pa ni Maine na sobra siyang thankful sa APT Entertainment Inc., at Cignal TV Inc., dahil nakapag-come-up sila ng ganitong show.
“I’ve very much involve specially noong pre-pandemic kasi matagal na rin itong pinaplano. Like siguro two years ago pa ‘yung first meeting namin about this. So natutuwa naman kasi I can really voice out my thoughts about about the project, about the show,” pagtatapat ni Maine.
“And I really feel like they listen to what I have to say. Para siyang…parang hindi ako nagwo-work. Hindi nga work ito para sa akin, kasi kung ano ‘yung gusto kong gawin at interesting for me, sinasabi ko sa kanila. And talagang they really make sure na magagawa namin sa show kaya nakatutuwa, parang hindi ako nagtatrabaho. At the same time, ang daming learnings, ang daming new experiences. So I’m really grateful for the producers of the show,” giit pa ng dalaga.
Natanong si Maine kung saan siya mas nag-eenjoy, magpatawa o magpakilig ng fans.
Ani Maine, “magpatawa siguro. Pero kasi parang ang hirap kasi sa akin na i-consider na comedian ako.
“Siguro kasi surrounded ako ng talagang mahuhusay na komedyante, from ‘Bulaga’ pa lang. So, nakakatuwa na in a way nate-train ako. So, roon ako sa comedy.”
Samantala sinabi ni Direk Mike Tuviera ng APT na mahigit limang taon na noong unang napag-usapan ang pagbuo ng Buko Channel.
“Actually, lumaki na nang lumaki ang idea because of Cignal’s growth, the largest subscriber base. So we’re talking, ‘Why not, why not have a 24/7 comedy channel?’ And in APT, that’s one of our forte that we really do well.
“I was born around comedy, siyempre, with my father in Eat Bulaga!. Sabi ko, let’s marry our forces together and let’s provide naman something new to the audience.”
At kahit na-delay ang launching nila, satisfied naman sila sa mga nabuo nila para sa Bukod Channel. “Even if with the delays that happened because of the pandemic and all of that, I think, BuKo is finally coming to fruition. It’s being born at exactly the right time, when people really needs something like this in their every-day life.”
Bukod sa #MaineGoals, tampok din sa BuKo Originals ang Kusina ni Mamang, isang cooking show hosted by Pokwang na tutuklas ng iba’t ibang tradisyonal na lutong Pinoy.

“Conceptualizing the programs for BuKo Originals was never an easy task, but it was well worth it especially with the talents that we’re working with and all the amazing ideas that are brought to the table. We look forward to filling BuKo with non-stop laughter and feel-good entertainment for the whole family,” dagdag pa ni Tuviera.
