TUMANGGAP ang 22 kooperatiba ngayong taon ng Villar SIPAG Awards on Poverty Reduction dahil sa naging tungkulin nila upang pagandahin ang buhay ng kanilang mga miyembro. Isinagawa ang nasabing parangal sa The Tent at Vista Global South sa C5 Extension Road, Las Piñas ngayong araw sa pangunguna nina dating Senate President Manny Villar, Senador Cynthia Villar, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, Las Piñas Lone District Camille Villar, at DOJ Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar. 22 kooperatiba kinilala sa angat na kabuhayan ng mga miyembro

UMABOT sa 22 koo­pera­tiba ang nanalo sa taong ito base sa pamantayan ng Villar SIPAG Awards on Poverty Reduction dahil napabuti nila ang kalidad ng pamumuhay ng kanilang mga kasapi lalo yaong nasa kanayu­nan.

Tumanggap ang bawat awardee ng P250,000 cash mula sa Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG).

Ang mga kasapi ng Villar Family na sina dating Senate President Manny Villar, Sen. Cynthia Villar, Vista Land CEO Paolo Villar, Public Works Sec. Mark Villar, at  Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar ang nag-abot ng award sa mga kinatawan ng nanalong kooperatiba mula  sa iba’t ibang lugar sa bansa.

Dalawang koope­rati­ba ang binigyan ng special citation at pinagkalooban ng P150,000 bawat isa.

Ginanap ang award­ing ceremony sa bagong pinasiyanan na The Tent sa Vista Global South, Las Piñas City.

Ang okasyon ay kasa­bay ng pagdiriwang  ng kaarawan ng dating Senate President na nagsilbi ring House of Representatives Speaker at Villar SIPAG founding chairman.

“The indispensable role of cooperatives in the realization of our people’s common aspiration espe­cially in the rural areas should be recognized. Through this award that we give out yearly, we hope to be able to encourage them and provide support to their projects,” ayon kay Sen. Cynthia Villar, director of Villar SIPAG.

Isa sa awardee ang Kooperatibang Naton Multi-Purpose Co­ope­rative na itinayo noong 2004, may 24 kasapi sa Iloilo at inisyal na capital na P7,000.

Nagsimula sila bilang tindahan na nagbebenta ng bigas at groceries sa kanilang church members.

Sa ngayon, mahigit 1,600 ang kanilang kasapi at ang kanilang asset ay mahigit P81 milyon.

Kabilang sa awardees ang mga kooperatiba na nagbigay ng suporta sa mga magsasaka at ma­ngi­ngisda sa pamama­gitan ng murang pautang at iba pang tulong.
