Voluntary drug testing hikayat ng PDEA, PNP sa candidates

HINIKAYAT ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at Philippine National Police (PNP) nitong Martes, ang mga kandidato sa 2019 mid-term elections na boluntaryong sumailalim sa drug test.

“Sabi ni PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino, well and good kung merong magkukusa. As we speak, seven minutes ago, one of the candidates who filed her certificate of candidacy is on her way to our office to voluntarily submit herself to a drug test,” ayon kay PDEA Director  Derrick Arnold Carreon sa ginanap na RealNumbersPH press briefing.

“May ruling na po diyan ang Supreme Court hinggil sa yung pag-i-impose ng drug test on candidates be­cause ap­parently, the Supreme Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional because it runs counter to the requirements al­ready embodied in the omnibus election code,” dagdag niya.

“It’s purely voluntary at the moment. Unless ma-amyendahan ang Omnibus Election Code,” ayon kay Carreon.

Ayon sa latest figures na inilabas ng RealNumbersPH nitong Martes, 582 government workers sa bansa ang nadakip mula Hulyo 2016 hanggang Setyembre 2018, mula sa nasabing bilang ay 250 ang elected officials, 60 ang uniformed personnel at 272 ang government employees.

“‘Yun pong ating mga nasa narco list, ang tanging ibinigay na challenge lang po ng ating PNP chief Director General Albayalde, kung wala ka namang itinatago, hindi naman siguro masama na magpa-drug test ka,” ayon kay PNP spokesperson Supt. Kimberly Molitas.
