Referees sa laro ng Ginebra, Globalport iimbestigahan

NANGAKO si PBA Commissioner Andres “Chito” Narvasa, Jr. na parurusahan niya (kung pumalpak) ang apat na reperi na nagtrabaho sa kontrobersiyal na laro ng Globalport at Barangay Ginebra San Miguel noong Linggo kung saan nanalo ang Batang Pier sa overtime, 84-83, upang umabante sa semifinals.

Sa isang statement kahapon ng umaga, sinabi ni Narvasa na kakausapin niya ang mga reperi na sina Edward Aquino, Bing Oliva, Rommel Gruta at Mardy Montoya tungkol sa mga hinaing ng Gin Kings tungkol sa hindi pagtawag nila ng backing violation laban kay Stanley Pringle sa huling walong segundo ng laro.

Ayon kay Ginebra coach Tim Cone, hinayaan lang nina Aquino, Oliva, Gruta at Montoya na sayangin ni Pringle ang natitirang oras kaya natalo ang Ginebra.

“As far as the PBA is concerned, the game has already been concluded unless we receive any protest from Bgy. Ginebra San Miguel. Regarding the officiating and to be fair, we have scheduled a hearing for the 4 referees tomorrow (ngayon), the 29th of December, to determine their performance. After that we shall come out with our official action on them,” ayon sa statement ni Narvasa.

Maghaharap ng Globalport ang Alaska sa best-of-seven semifinals na magsisimula sa Enero 4, 2016.

“I’m looking forward to resting first and all of us getting our legs back. This win is a momentum-builder for us,” ani Pringle. “Everybody’s all hyped and it’s an experience for all of us. We all stayed together.”

Sa post ni Cone sa Twitter, tila nagpahayag siya na tinanggap niya ang pagkatalo ng kanyang koponan.

“Players played their hearts out, fans screamed their hearts out. Despite the loss, that makes it a great night. We’ll be back stronger,” ani Cone tungkol sa isa na namang maagang bakasyon para sa Ginebra na hindi pa nagkakampeon sa PBA mula pa noong 2008. ( James Ty III )
