ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Pinagharian nina National Master Oshrie Jhames Constantino Reyes at Freddie Simo Talaboc ang kani-kanilang division sa katatapos na 4th National Executive Chess Championship North Luzon Leg Sabado, 4 Pebrero 2023 na ginanap sa Activity Center, Marquee Mall sa Angeles City, Pampanga.
Ang 11-anyos na si Reyes, Grade 6 student ng Santa Rita College, Pampanga ang nagkampeon sa kiddies category, habang ang 40-anyos na si Talaboc, account manager sa DataLand Inc., ay dinomina ang Executive category.
Tumapos si Reyes sa five-round rapid competition, tangan ang 4.5 wins, ungos sa 11-anyos na si Pat Ferdolf Macabulos, Grade 5 student ng Mabatang Elementary School sa Mabatang, Bataan, sa tie break points, na nagkasya sa second, may similar 4.5 points.
“I knew that this was a tough tournament with all the players. I just tried to play my best and now I am really happy,” sabi ni Reyes.
Nasa Third hanggang fifth placers sina Jaycon Sodela, Clyde Jared Torena, at Abighale Bangloy Dacoron na may tig 4.0 points.
Samantala si Talaboc ay tumapos sa 5-round Swiss system competition sa Executive category sa pagkamada ng 4.5 points.
“I’m so happy to have been part of such an incredible event,” sambit ni Talaboc, isa sa top players ng PCAP’s Quezon City Simba’s Tribe.
Nakaipon sina National Master Nicomedes Alisangco at Jesus Benjamin Lising ng tig 4.0 points, tungo sa second at third, ayon sa pagkakasunod base sa kanilang total tie break points.
Bida rin sina Francis Simo Talaboc at Joel Obogne na may tig 3.5 points tungo sa fourth hanggang fifth, ayon sa pagkakasunod.
Pasok sa top 11, may tig 3.0 points sina sixth Dr. Gener Subia, seventh Bazil Ledesma, eight Leonardo Navarro, ninth International Master Jose Efren Bagamasbad, tenth IT expert Joselito Cada, at eleventh Engr. Mark Anthony Mallari Yabut.
Ang one-day, over-the-board competition ay iniorganisa ng Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) sa gabay ni president Dr. Fred Paez na suportado ni United States chess master Dr. Rex De Asis ng Lacey, Washington. (MB)
