MANILA — Muling nanalasa si International Master Michael “Jako” Concio Jr., ng Dasmariñas City, Cavite, consistent winner sa online tournaments matapos maghari sa GMG Chess Monthly November 2022 Arena na ginanap sa Lichess Platform nitong 30 Nobyembre.
Ang 17-anyos na si Concio, Grade 12 student ng Dasmariñas Integrated High School ay tumapos ng 75 points sa 22 games for a win rate of 82 percent at performance rating 2740 para magkampeon sa event na suportado ni Coach Gerald Ferriol.
“The online tournament had time control of three minutes and players must win as many games in one and half hours of play,” sabi ni Ferriol.
Si Concio, nasa pangangalaga nina Rep. Elpidio “Pidi” Barzaga, Mayor Jenny Barzaga, National Coach FIDE Master Roel Abelgas, Martin Meneses, at Papadu Sportswear ay nakatangap ng P1,500 top purse sa kanyang efforts.
Si Concio ay sariwa pa sa magnificent performance sa Asian Junior Chess Championship kamakailan na ginanap sa Tagaytay City.
Nakopo ni Concio ang gold sa Rapid Under-18 at Standard Under-18 at silver medal sa Standard Under-20.
Tumapos si National Master Mark Jay Bacojo ng Dasmariñas City, Cavite sa second spot na may 63 points mula sa 23 games na win rate of 70 percent at performance rating 2579 tungo sa P1,000 second place prize.
Nasa third place si Christian Mendoza ng Antipolo City na may 53 points tungo sa P500.
Pasok sa top 10 sina Anju Bansal (fourth), Anatoly Pascua (fifth), Jonathan Jota (sixth), Vignesh B (seventh), Sergey Volkov (eight), NM Jonathan Tan (ninth), at NM Noel Dela Cruz (tenth).
Itinanghal na category winners sina Marvin Arendain (top kiddie), Nephira Marilag (top women), Gary Legapsi (top senior), at Ronnie Villa (top PWD).
Samantala ang 3rd GMG Chess Monthly tournament ay pinagharian ni Tiger, may 4.5 points kasunod sina James (4.0 points) at Bill (3.5 points). (MB)
