HINDI NAGAMIT NA PONDO PINALAWIG HANGGANG 2022

PINAGTIBAY ng senado sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang panukalang batas na palawigin ang 2021 national budget hanggang Disyembre 2022.

Dahil dito ang budget ng iba’t ibang departamento o ahensiya ng pamahalaan na hindi nagamit sa kasalukuyang taon dahil sa pandemya ay maaari pa nilang gastusin o gamitin sa susunod na taon.

Bukod pa ito pa sa panukalang pambansang budget para sa taon 2022.

Sa botong 22-0-0, walang senador ang tumutol sa pag-aproba kaya pinagtibay ng senado ang House Bill 10373 na inamyendahan ng Senado o kilala sa tawag na An Act Extending the Availability of the 2021 Appropriations to December 31, 2022.

Si Senador Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, Chairman ng Senate Committee on Finance, ang mismong tumayo para ipagtanggol ang naturang panukala at kombinsihin ang kanyang kapwa senador para sa pag-aproba nito.

Nagpasalamat si Angara sa agarang pagsuporta ng kanyang kapwa senador sa naturang panukala.

Naniniwala si Angara, malaking tulong ito sa pamahalaan upang higit na labanan ang banta ng panibagong CoVid-19 variant ng Omicron.

“The approval of the measure will allow the government to provide more social services and implement more projects for the benefit of more of our countrymen, and to a certain extent, provide some stimulus for jumpstarting our economic recovery,”  ani Angara.

Kabilang sa madurugtungan ang bisa sa ilalim ng 2021 national budget ay ang mga sumusunod:

·      2.5 million more indigent patients will benefit from government assistance by extending the 2021 national budget, given a significant portion of the budget under Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients (MAIP) has yet to be obligated.

·      With the Omicron variant threatening to reach our country, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) would be given enough leeway to use unobligated appropriations to hire up to 8,000 more contact tracers for one month. .      The government may help boost the country’s economic recovery by ramping up its spending, particularly in infrastructure, as the private sector reels from the effects of the pandemic.
