MTRCB ipinagdiwang ang ika-40 anibersaryo kasama ang industriya ng pelikula at telebisyon

IPINAGDIWANG ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), sa pangunguna ni Chairperson at CEO Lala Sotto, ang ika-40 anibersaryo ng pagkakatatag nito noong Miyerkoles, Oktubre 15, bilang paggunita sa apat na dekada ng katapatan, serbisyo publiko at matibay na pakikipag-ugnayan sa industriya ng pelikula at telebisyon sa Filipinas.

Dumalo sa pagdiriwang ang mga pangunahing opisyal ng pamahalaan at mga kilalang personalidad sa pelikula at telebisyon, kabilang sina Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III at kinatawan ng mga TV network, cable at cinema operators, direktor, prodyuser, distributor, at mga artista.

Pinuri ni Bersamin ang MTRCB sa patuloy nitong katapatan at maaasahang katuwang ng industriya ng pelikula at telebisyon sa bansa.

“For four decades, the MTRCB has been the vigilant guardian of decency, accountability and excellence in Philippine media and entertainment. It is this that explains why the role of MTRCB is vital more than ever as the youth navigate a multimedia environment, dominated by the streaming platforms, the social media and the global content, the MTRCB must continue to guide both creators and audiences.”

Binigyang-diin ni Sotto na nananatiling tapat ang Board sa pagsuporta sa malayang pagpapahayag ng industriya habang ginagampanan ang tungkulin nitong protektahan ang mga manonood. “In fulfilling its role, the Board continues to strike a balance, allowing the Philippine creative industry to thrive while ensuring that viewers, especially Filipino children, remain protected,” sabi ni Sotto. “However, we also believe that such freedom carries significant responsibility, for creativity has the ability to shape minds and influence society.”

Ibinahagi ni Sotto ang kakayahan ng Board na umangkop sa nagbabagong panahon sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalawak ng kanilang mga programa at pakikipagtulungan sa mga digital at streaming giants, pati na rin sa mga pandaigdigang organisasyon. “We continue to learn from global best practices and embrace the principles of ‘safety by design’ approach. These ensure that our advocacy remains relevant and effective in the way Filipinos consume content today,” dagdag ni Sotto.

Pinuri ni TV executive, aktres, host, at prodyuser na si Charo Santos-Concio ang MTRCB sa apat na dekada nitong paggabay sa industriya ng paglikha sa bansa. “Through all those years, the MTRCB has been a constant presence—a gatekeeper, a moral vanguard, and a compass of standards we strive to uphold,” sabi ni Santos-Concio.

“The ratings we see on our screens—G, PG, SPG—are not restrictions but opportunities for families to discern what content is best for their children. They open conversations about difficult truths, real-life lessons, and the values we want audiences to carry with them.”

Nagpasalamat si Cinema Exhibitors’ Association of the Philippines President Irene Jose sa matatag na pakikipag-ugnayan ng MTRCB sa industriya ng sinehan sa bansa. “Over the years, we in the movie theatre industry have come to see the MTRCB not just as a regulator, but as a true partner. Someone we can work with, learn from, and even turn to when we need guidance,” sabi ni Jose.

Ibinahagi ni Negros Occidental 3rd District Representative Javi Benitez ang naging positibong epekto ng kampanyang “Responsableng Panonood” ng MTRCB sa kanilang komunidad. “When the ‘Responsableng Panonood’ seminar came to Victorias in 2023, it gathered nearly 200 parents, teachers and local leaders, who engaged in discussions on responsible media consumption,” sabi ni Benitez na noo’y alkalde ng Victorias City.

Ayon  kay Sotto, patunay ito ng epektibong bunga ng kampanyang Responsableng Panonood sa mga magulang at kabataan. 

Sa paggunita ng makasaysayang yugtong ito, pinagtitibay ng MTRCB ang misyon nitong protektahan ang mga manonood, isulong ang katapatan at palakasin ang pakikipagtulungan sa mga katuwang sa industriya, upang makalikha ng isang responsable at inklusibong industriya ng pelikula at telebisyon para sa mga susunod na henerasyon.
