NAKAKAPAGOD. Weird. Challenging. Ito ang initial reaction nina Jasmine Curtis-Smith at Glaiza de Castro sa pelikula nilang Midnight In A Perfect World na release ng Globe Studios at Epic Media at highest grossing film last year sa QCinema 2020.
Pagbabahagi ni Jasmine sa zoom conference, ”When I first read it, hindi siya nag-occur sa akin na related to what is happening in our society. I just took it for what is written there and figured it out. I’m trying to piece the puzzle of the narrative kung ano iyong, saan yung magiging problematic moment niya.
“But it seems like all throughout while reading it, I felt so tired reading it. Parang humihingal ka kasi tumatakbo ang characters namin in the most part. May ganoon siyang momentum when reading it also.”
At si Glaiza, ”Na-weirduhan. Yes definitely, kaya rin sobra akong na-curious at naging interested sa story kasi it’s something that I’ve haven’t read before, haven’t done before.
“I think ‘yung horror na ipinakikita ng pelikulang ito, ‘yung freedom na tatanggalin sa iyo, there’s nothing more horrible than that.”
A must see movie nga itong Midnight In a Perfect World na streaming na sa Upstream simula January 29 hanggang February 28. Kasama rin dito sina Anthony Falcon at Dino Pastrano gayundin sina Bing Pimentel, Soliman Cruz, Dolly de Leon, Charles Aaron Salazar, at Brian Sy.
Isinulat at idinirehe ito ni Dodo Dayao, ang filmmaker sa likod ng Cinema One Original, Violator, na internationally acclaimed ng Twitch at Variety.
Sa tanong kung bakit in-acquire ng Globe, ani Quark Henares, When it was presented to us, it was pitched as an allegory of martial law. Little did we know that by the time it was released, it would also serve as a reflection of these dark times.”
