Pinay sa Saudi patay sa lason (Kinompirma ng DFA)

TINIYAK ng mga opisyal ng Philip­pine Embassy sa Saudi Arabia na masusing iimbestigahan ang ulat na minaltrato ng kanyang amo ang isang Filipina domestic helper na namatay makaraan umanong uminom ng lason, ayon sa ulat ng Department of Foreign Affairs, nitong Linggo.

Ang biktimang si Emerita Gannaban, 44, ay nagtungo sa Saudi Arabia para magtrabaho noong Hunyo. Siya ay namatay sa Prince Mo­ham­med bin Abdulaziz Hospital sa Riyadh noong 29 Oktubre.

“The Department assures the family of Gannaban that it would take a closer look into her death as well as alle­gations that she had been maltreated,” ayon sa DFA.

Ang mga opisyal ng Philippine Embassy sa Riyadh ay nakikipag-ugnayan sa pamilya ni Gannaban gayondin sa kanyang amo at re­cruiters sa Manila at Riyadh kaug­nay sa pro­seso ng pag-uwi ng labi ng biktima sa Filipinas kapag natapos na ang imbestigasyon ng mga awtoridad hinggil sa kanyang pagkamatay.

“The embassy is waiting for the results of the autopsy conducted on Gannaban,” pahayag ng DFA.
