ISINUSULONG ni Sen. Sonny Angara ang bill para sa tax incentives sa film at TV tourism. Base sa bill na ito, bibigyan ng tax incentives at iba pang perks ang foreign film makers at television producers upang maengganyo silang dito sa Filipinas gumawa ng pelikula o mag-shoot ng TV show.
Saad ng senador, “Film tourism is a growing phenomenon wherein tourists visit destinations that they saw in movies, televisions, or videos. We have to take advantage of this trend by encouraging foreign film producers to shoot here in our country in exchange for certain benefits.”
Nag-file ng bill si Sen. Angara, ang Senate Bill 1330 o ang “Philippine Film and Television Toursim Act” na naglalayong bigyan ang international or foreign film or TV production, ng tax at duty free importation ng kanilang film equipments.
Ang naturang bill ay magkakaloob din sa foreign nationals na kasali sa film or TV production ng multiple-entry special visa na valid para sa isang taon.
Ang iminungkahing batas ay nagbibigay din ng mandato na likhain ang Philippine film and Television Tourism Authority (PFTTA), na magfa-facilitate ng one-stop-shop system para sa foreign film and TV entities na nasa location shoot sa bansa.
Ito ay nagbibigay din sa kanila ng gawain upang i-promote ang Filipinas bilang location site para sa production ng mga international films at TV programs.
“Film and TV tourism is an important marketing tool- locally-shot international movies can serve as huge ‘advertising billboards’ that will surely entice foreign tourists to visit the country,” wika ni Sen. Angara.
Bukod sa innovative and cost-effective na pamamaraan ng pag-akit sa mga turista, sinabi ni Sen. Sonny na ang film and TV tourism ay nakatutulong sa pagkakaroon ng employment opportunities, recognition ng Filipino talent, at enhancemen ng international profile ng Filipinas.
“We should recognize the tourism industry’s multiplier effect on jobs, as well as the economic activity it brings into our country, especially to the countryside,” sabi ni Sen. Angara.
Matatandaang ang Banaue Rice Terraces sa Ifugao province sa Cordillera ay na-feature sa blockbuster movie na Avengers: Infinity War. Bunsod nito, ang Duterte administration ay kinilala ang Ifugao bilang next major tourist destination ng bansa, lalo sa taglay nitong well-preserved natural environment at indigenous culture, customs, and traditions.
