SAPAT ang itinakdang 60-araw para isakatuparan ang peace talks ng gobyernong Duterte at kilusang komunista upang pagkasunduan ang diskarte upang wakasan ang kahirapan na ugat ng armadong tunggalian sa Filipinas.
“I don’t think there’s a divergence of views on the root causes of rebellion; it is poverty. So if the government and the CPP-NPA will agree to address the root causes, then it should not even take 60 days,” ani Roque sa press briefing kahapon sa Palasyo.
Paliwanag ni Roque, pareho ang plataporma ng gobyerno at Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army-National Democratic Front of the Philippines, ang iangat ang antas ng kabuhayan ng mga Filipino.
“We have a common platform. Mas maginhawang buhay para sa lahat, mas komportableng buhay para sa lahat,” dagdag ni Roque.
Giit ni Roque, tiniyak ni Pangulong Duterte ang kaligtasan ni CPP founding chairman Jose Ma. Sison kapag umuwi sa bansa para lumahok sa peace talks.
“What the President said was if peace talks will resume, he’s welcome to come home, the President will assure his security and the fact that he will not be arrested. Beyond that, the President has not acceded to any further terms,” ani Roque.
Ngunit si Sison ay nasa listahan ng Amerika sa mga nagpopondo sa teroristang grupo kaya sinabi ni Roque, bahala na ang communist leader kung paano siya uuwi sa bansa mula sa The Netherlands.
