Seguridad ng bansa tatalakayin sa Obama visit

TINIYAK ng Malacañang na magiging makabuluhan ang state visit ni US Pres. Barack Obama sa huling bahagi ng Abril.

Batay sa anunsyo ng Washington, unang pupuntahan ni Obama ang Japan, Republic of Korea at Malaysia bago didiretso ng Filipinas.

Sinabi ni Communications Sec. Sonny Coloma, ang US ay mahalagang alyado ng Filipinas para sa tiyak na pag-uusap kung paano mapalalakas ang ugnayan.

Ayon kay Coloma, hindi pa nila masabi kung ano ang mga tatalakayin nina Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III at Obama dahil inaayos pa.

Iginiit ni Coloma na hindi magsisilbing refuelling stopover ng Air Force One ni Obama ang bansa.

Sa statement ng Office of the Press Secretary ng White House, bukod sa isyu ng ekonomiya na pag-uusapan nina Obama at Pangulong Aquino ay tatalakayin din ng dalawang lider ang usapin sa seguridad at kung paano makatutulong sa modernisasyon ng Armed Forces of the Philippines ang Amerika.

“The President will then travel to the Philippines, the fifth Asian treaty ally he will have visited during his presidency.  He will meet with President Aquino to highlight our economic and security cooperation, including through the modernization of our defense alliance, efforts to expand economic ties and spark economic growth through the Partnership for Growth, and through our deep and enduring people-to-people ties,” bahagi ng White House statement.
