Comelec gagahulin sa SC TRO — Jimenez

INIHAYAG ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) na magagahol na ang ahensiya kapag susundin ang temporary retraining order (TRO) ng Supreme Court (SC) sa “No Bio, No Boto” policy sa 2016 elections.

Ayon kay Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez, maaapektohan ang paghahanda ng Comelec sa halalan kapag ibabasura ang kanilang polisiya sa pagboto.

Ito ay dahil kaila-ngan mag-adjust ang Comelec ng mga voting precinct sa mga botanteng walang biometrics na aabot sa 2.5 milyon.

“Obviously the TRO will materially affect preparations for the elections as it may result in the Comelec having to adjust the project of precinct by about 2.5 million voters. A project of precinct is you know is our basic guide for how many voters there are going to be per precinct,” ani Jimenez.

Dahil dito, apektado rin ang paggamit ng vote counting machines (VCM) dahil madaragdagan na ang gagamit sa mga makina.

Aniya, sa target nilang 800 balotang daraan sa isang VCM ay posibleng aabot na ito sa mahigit 1,000 na magpapabagal sa operasyon ng mga presinto.

Kapag magdaragdag ang Comelec ng VCM ay baka hindi na mai-deliver bago ang halalan at hindi rin sigurado kung may available pang mga makina dahil dalawang beses na silang nag-acquire.

“Nag-repeat order na tayo and you can only have a repeat order only once. I don’t know if that’s available. Although that possibility is still being studied,” dagdag ni Jimenez.

Sa huling report ng Comelec, nasa 54 milyon na ang registered voters.
