Aresto sa senadora patunay ng demokrasya — Palasyo

MATAGUMPAY na nagningning ang batas nang arestohin kahapon si Sen. Leila de Lima, para panagutin sa kasong kriminal, at ito ang patunay na umiiral ang demokrasya sa Filipinas, ayon sa Palasyo.

“The majesty of the law shines triumphantly when a Senator of a Republic is arrested and detained on account of a criminal charge. Such is the working of a democracy,” sabi ni Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, kaugnay sa pagdakip kahapon kay De Lima sa kasong drug trafficking.

Aniya, ang pag-aresto kay De Lima ay nagpapakita na ipinatutupad sa kahit sinong indibiduwal, makapangyarihan man o ordinaryong mamamayan ang estado sa lipunan.

“The arrest of Senator De Lima shows that the law is enforced regardless of who is the subject of a warrant of arrest whether the person is holding a high position in the go-vernment or has an ordinary status in society,” dagdag niya.

Inilinaw ni Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, walang kulay politika ang pagdakip kay De Lima, at kasong kriminal ang isinampa laban sa senadora.

“Alam mo, it’s a cri-minal case filed against her. It’s not a political case na which was filed against her, ‘yun lang ‘yun,” ani Medialdea.

Giit ni Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella, walang dapat ipa-ngamba si De Lima dahil tiniyak ni PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa, ang kanyang kaligtasan at seguridad sa PNP Custodial Center sa Camp Crame.
