TAWAG-PANSIN at tiyak may iintriga sa 16 na mga artists na tampok sa Metro Manila Film Festival Mural Painting na tampok sa lumang gusali ng MMDA sa may EDSA, Makati.
Kahapon, pinangunahan ni MMDA Chairman at concurrent MMFF ExeComm Chairman Romando “Don” Artes ang unveil ng mural painting ng 16 MMFF stars. Sinamahan siya unveiling nina National Artist Ricky Lee, MOWELFUND chairman Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo, MMFF executive director Atty. Rochelle Ona, Joel Saracho, Direk Paolo Villaluna, Direk Marlon Rivera, Direk Richard Somes, Dan Morales, at iAcademy CEO Raquel Wong.
Ang mural painting ay parte ng Sine Sigla sa Singkuwenta na 50 MMFF movies ang ipapalabas sa mga piling sinehan nationwide na magsisimula sa Setyembre 25 hanggang Oktubre 15 sa halagang P50.
Sa mural painting sa EDSA tampok sina National Artists Fernando Poe Jr. at Nora Aunor gayundin sina Dolphy, Vilma Santos, Vic Sotto, Maricel Soriano, Eddie Garcia, Gloria Romero, Amy Austria, Christopher de Leon, Cesar Montano, Vice Ganda, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Joseph Estrada, at Anthony Alonzo.
Wala rito sina Judy Ann Santos, Sharon Cuneta, Aga Muhlach, Sen Bong Revilla at iba pa na block buster din ang mga MMFF movie.
Kaya natanong siChair Artes kung paano napili ang 16 na artistang tampok sa mural painting.
“Iyan ang mga Hall of Famer natin. Mga aktor sa mga pelikula na naging topgrossers,” paunang esplika ni Artes.
“Iyon ang ating naging criteria. Either awardee po sila as best actor, best actress. Or kahit hindi po sila nagkaroon ng award bilang best actor, best actress.
“‘Yung kanila pong pelikula ay top grosser sa MMFF,” sabi pa.
Iginiit din ng MMDA Chair na sa 50 taon ng MMFF mahihirapan silang ipinta ang lahat ng mga iyon. “Subalit ipipinta naman ang kani-kanilang pelikula,” anito.
“I take responsibility for it dahil ako po ang nag-approve. Pero based on that, pinili po namin ‘yung malaki ‘yung kontribusyon sa MMFF,” wika pa ng MMDA Chair.
Bale mahigit 50 murals ng movie posters ang ipipinta sa EDSA.
“So, hindi naman po ibig sabihin na may maiiwan. We know that we cannot please everybody.
“Sabi ko nga po, 50 taon ‘yan. Kung average na walong pelikula bawat taon, mahigit 400 na pelikula ‘yun.
“And we cannot please everybody,” dagdag pa.
Kabilang sa mga magpipinta ng mural sina AG Sano at Sim Tolentino.
Samantala, may magkakataon na ang publiko na mapanood ang mga pelikulang kalahok sa mga nagdaang MMFF sa halaganf P50 sa mga piling sinehan. Ito’y bahagi pa rin ng SineSigla sa Singkwenta 50 at 50 bilang pagdiriwang ng kanilang ika- 50th taon.
May kabuuang 50 MMFF movies ang maaaring mapanood mula sa mga genre na drama, comedy, action, horror, romance, adventure, historical, musical, and fantasy—na magsisimula September 25 to October 15. Mapapanood ito sa SM Cinema, Robinsons Movie World, Ayala Malls Cinema, Megaworld Cinemas, Gateway Cineplex 18, Fisher Box Office, Shangri-La Plaza Cinema, Red Carpet Cinema, at Vista Cinema.
Ani Artes, layunin ng proyektong ito na ma-recognize ang MMFF’s decades-long contributions ng Philippine film industry at para i-celebrate na rin ang evolution ng MMFF films sa loob ng maraming taon.
“With the Sine Sigla sa Singkwenta screenings, we will bring some of the most memorable MMFF films back to the big screen for just 50 pesos, allowing both new audiences and long- time fans to experience the magic of those beloved films once again. These films represent some of the best of what the MMFF has offered over the past five decades,” ani Artes.
Pinasalamatan ni Artes ang mga film producer sa pagpayag ng mga ito na muling maipalabas ang mga classic film na parte na ng film industry’s history. “These films encapsulate the historical, social, and artistic narratives of their respective eras.”
“Screenings are for a limited time only, so do not miss this chance. The return of iconic MMFF movies offers the younger generation an opportunity to learn about the cinematic masterpieces of the past. This will also engage audiences who may have missed these films during their original releases,” wika pa ni Artes.
Kasama sa proyektong ito ang Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP) at cinema operators.
