8 RVM sisters pumanaw na

HINDI nakaligtas sa salot na CoVid-19 ang walong madre ng Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) na unang napaulat na nagpositibo sa impeksiyon ng nasabing virus.

Ang walong madre ay pawang nasa edad 80  hanggang 90 anyos at kabilang sa 62 RVM sisters na nagpositibo sa virus mula sa Saint Joseph Home at sa kanilang kombento sa Quezon City.

Ayon kay RVM Sister Ma. Anicia Co, tagapagsalita ng kongregasyon, hindi nabakunahan ang walong madre dahil sila ay may comorbidity o may iniindang sakit.

Ayon kay Sister Co, bukod sa walong madre, kabilang sa mga nagpositibo sa CoVid-19 ang 52 personnel ng kombento.

Ang 52 personnel aniya ay nagpapagaling na at mula sa pagiging symptomatic.

“The personnel are still young so they are on the road to recovery. Some Sisters are moving from symptomatic to asymptomatic. Eight of the Sisters, aged 90s and 80s, afflicted with CoVid returned home to our heavenly Father,” bahagi ng pahayag ni Sister Co sa isang panayam sa radyo.

Patuloy na humihingi ng panalangin ang mga apektadong RVM Sisters para sa tuluyang kaligtasan at paggaling laban sa virus.

“Please pray for us especially our Sisters in St. Joseph Home. May our Sisters come to full recovery. May God grant strength to our other Sisters in the communities in the compound, strength to continue serving the affected community,” hikayat ni Sister Co.

Magugunitang unang isinailalim sa lockdown ang kombento dahil sa CoVid-19 outbreak doon.

Samantala, nagbabala si Sr. Co, sa publiko na mag-ingat sa mga mapagsamantalang ginagamit ang pangalan ng RVM Sisters upang makapangalap ng pondo.

“The RVM Secretariat has received reports of solicitation of funds using our name. [It] was found out [that it was] a false account using the name of an RVM Sister. We ask our benefactors, alumni and friends who want to help to verify with the RVM Secretariat before they send any financial assistance,” pahayag ng tagapagsalita ng Kongregasyon. (ALMAR DANGUILAN)
