DESMAYADO si Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers sa isyu ng bentahan na “unreliable rapid test kits” sa bansa habang nagbabala na isisiwalat niya ang mga nagbebenepisyo rito.
“Tingin ko mga scam ‘yung rapid (test) e. May nagnenegosyo riyan. I suspect there’s someone who is engaged in this business, which tinkers with the life of people who may have acquired the virus and later passed it on to others,” ayon kay Barbers.
Umangal si Barbers sa kagustohan ng gobyernong gamitin ang rapid tests para mag-screen ng mga taong posibleng may COVID-19 kahit hindi ito accurate.
“First question is, why is government allowing the sale of all these rapid testing kits that do not produce a high percentage of efficiency based on their results? Would you buy a cough syrup that you know won’t be effective?” tanong ng mambabatas.
“‘Yun ang tanong. Mayroong benefactor diyan and we ought to know,” giit ng Chairman ng House committee on dangerous drugs.
Sa pagdinig ng House committee on trade and industry noong 15 Mayo, sinabi ni Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion, ang presyo ng rapid test kit ay P450.
Ani Concepcion, inaasahang baba ito sa P300 kapag dumami na ang gumagamit.
Sa kasalukuyan, ang bentahan ng isang piraso ay nasa P800 sa botika. Ang isang box naman na may lamang 10 test kit ay nagkakahalaga ng P7,900.
Sinabi ni Barbers, dapat tanggalin na sa merkado ang mga inaccurate na test kits.
Aniya, “Only those that are producing results that are not accurate. Dapat nga tinest muna natin accuracy level ng mga ‘yan before we allowed it in the market.
“Even if you are positive with a rapid test, you will still have to undergo confirmatory test via swab test. So what’s the use?” diin ni Barbers.
“May nagnenegosyo rito and we encourage the House or even the Senate to conduct an investigation on this,” aniya.
Ang PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test or swab test ay tinitingnan bilang mas sigurado kasya rapid test. (GERRY BALDO)
