NADISKUBRE ng isang Michelin-starred na restawran sa Virginia state sa Estados Unidos ang nakagigiliw — o creepy, depende sa panlasa — na paraan para masunod ang ‘social distancing’ sa pagbubukas nito ngayong buwan ng Mayo: mga naka-costume na manekin na nakaupo kasama ang kanilang mga buhay na guest o parokyano.
“When we needed to solve the problem of social distancing and reducing our restaurant’s occupancy by half, the solution seemed obvious — fill it with interestingly dressed dummies,” paliwanag ni chef Patrick O’Connell na may-ari ng pamosong The Inn at Little Washington restaurant.
“This would allow plenty of space between real guests and elicit a few smiles and provide some fun photo ops,” dagdag ni O’Connell.
Ang theatrical at life-sized na mga manekin ay nakasuot ng mga damit na gumugunita sa post-war ambience noong 1940s, may mga kuwintas na perlas, checkered na bestida at striped suits.
Nakipagtambalan ang The Inn sa mga lokal na negosyante para sa pagtatanghal at gayon din sa mga costume at make-up para sa mga manekin na pinaupo sa iba’t ibang bahagi sa harap ng kanilang mga mesa.
“We‘re all craving to gather and see other people right now. They don’t all necessarily need to be real people,” punto ni O’Connell.
