PH libre vs Ebola – Palasyo

ITO ang tiniyak ni Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. kahapon makaraan iulat sa Palasyo ng Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) na negatibo ang resulta nang pagsusuri sa 18 kaso ng suspected Ebola virus disease.

“Mayroon nang 18 kaso ng suspected Ebola Virus Disease na sinuri ang RITM at lahat nang ito ay negatibo ang resulta, kaya po sinasabi natin na Ebola-free ang Filipinas. ‘Yan po ang hinggil sa Ebola Virus Disease,” aniya.

Ang RITM ay itinakda bilang national referral center for emerging and reemerging infectious diseases.

Magsisilbi rin ang RITM bilang sentro sa pagsusuri o testing at

gagamitin nito ang pinakabagong paraan na subok na mula sa US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Nailatag at patuloy na pinapatatag aniya ng Department of Health (DoH) ang isang multisectoral response plan, gaya nang binanggit ni Health Secretary Enrique Ona sa idinaos na first National Ebola Virus Disease Summit sa Quezon City kamakalawa.

“Ang mga elemento ng planong ito ay ang mga sumusunod: una, interim guidelines for disease surveillance, notification and reporting of suspected Ebola Virus Disease cases; pangawala, clinical management including laboratory testing of specimens from suspected EVD cases; at ikatlo, infection control,” paliwanag ni Coloma.

Napaulat na umabot sa 4,000 katao na ang namatay sanhi ng Ebola Virus disease sa buong mundo at ayon kay Ona, ngayong linggo magpapasya ang Filipinas kung papayag sa hirit ng US at UK na magpadala ng Filipino health workers sa Ebola-hit West African countries, na may kakulangan ng health personnel.

May 8,000 manggagawang Filipino sa Ebola-affected countries sa West Africa at 115 peacekeepers sa Liberia.

 

PNOY, WHO OFFICIALS MAGPUPULONG VS EBOLA

INAASAHANG makikipagpulong si Pangulong Benigno Aquino III sa mga opisyal ng World Health Organization (WHO) upang talakayin ang posibleng pagpasok ng Ebola virus sa bansa.

Dadalo si Aquino sa 65th session ng World Health Organization Regional Committee for the Western Pacific sa Philippine International Convention Center ngayong araw.

“Let’s just wait for what the President will say tomorrow,” pahayag ni Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr.

Magugunitang inihayag ng opisyal ng Department of Health (DoH) na “just a matter of time when the Philippines reports its first Ebola case.”

Sinabi ni DoH National Epidemiology Center chief Eric Tayag, ang mga hakbang ng bansa kontra Ebola ay hindi sapat.

Gayonman, tiniyak ng Palasyo na patuloy ang gobyerno sa pagpapalakas ng multi-sectoral plan sa pagtugon sa posibleng pagpasok ng virus sa bansa.

“Right now, we are still Ebola-free. The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine has tested 18 suspected cases, and all turned out negative,” pahayag ni Coloma.

PH RED CROSS MAGDE-DEPLOY NG STAFF SA W. AFRICA

KINOMPIRMA ni Philippine Red Cross Chairman Richard Gordon na magpapadala ng mga tauhan ang kanilang tanggapan sa West Africa upang tumulong sa paglaban sa Ebola virus.

Ayon kay Gordon, sa ganitong panahon ay kailangan ang magkakatuwang na suporta ng international community para mapatigil ang pagkalat ng nasabing sakit.

“We have to contain the Ebola virus in those areas, so as to protect our borders. In this day and age of air travel, we have to make sure that we have the necessary mechanisms in place to detect the Ebola virus at our airports, and have prepared isolation facilities when necessary. Ebola will come to the Philippines so the fight against Ebola must be waged in West Africa, and we must join the battle now so we can learn more about the pandemic. That is our humanitarian duty as Filipinos, which we are well known for throughout the globe” wika ni Gordon.

Kaugnay nito, dumalo ang Red Cross head sa pulong ng International Federation of the Red Cross sa Geneva, at isa sa napagkasunduan ang pakikibahagi ng Filipinas sa pinalakas na hakbang kontra sa Ebola.

Habang tiniyak ng International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) ang suporta para sa volunteers na magtutungo sa lugar.

Ang mga ipadadalang tauhan ng Red Cross ay tatagal lamang ng isang buwan at isasailalim sa quarantine sa loob ng 21 araw kapag natapos na ang kanilang tour of duty.
