Pilar Pilapil at Alice Dixson ‘di naisip maging first lady

PAREHONG beauty queens at parehong nasa cast ng First Lady ng GMA sina Pilar Pilapil at Alice Dixson kaya natanong ang mga ito kung pumasok sa isip nila na maging first lady in the future?

“Thinking about being first lady has never crossed my mind, actually. But what crossed my mind is to be able to help the country and that’s why I ran for Senator before in 2004.

“That’s what crossed my mind and that’s what I wanted to really do, to be able to be of help to the country, and to do public service.

“But I believe that now that I am already spiritual and I’m also doing a lot of ministry work, I have a foundation, I’m able to fulfill that thru my foundation,”  pahayag ni Pilar na kinoronahang Binibining Pilipinas-Universe noong 1967.

Ang kanyang Pilar Pilapil Foundation ay isang organisasyon na tumutulong sa mga kababaihang biktima ng pananakit at pang-aabuso.

Si Alice naman ay nanalong Binibining Pilipinas-International noong 1986 at tatlong special awards; Miss Photogenic, Miss Creamsilk Dream Girl, at Miss Talent. Si Alice ang kinatawan ng Pilipinas sa Miss International beauty pageant na ginanap sa Japan at napili bilang isa sa 15 semi-finalists.

Umamin naman si Alice na may mga nanligaw sa kanya na mga politiko dati.

“Pero hindi ko sila type,” at tumawa si Alice. “Pero to be first lady hindi ko naman naisip but there are a lot of, let’s say a lot of, well hindi naman a lot but there were some suitors that were on the political side.

“But wala talaga akong na-type-an. But tama po si Ms. Pilar that we shouldn’t, kasi there are other beauty queens kasi other than us that are on the show and you don’t have to be a beauty queen also to have that heart to help your countrymen.”

“So lahat tayo we can do our part and also sa akin importante talaga ang mga babae sa isang relationship sa buhay ng kanilang asawa whether they’re a public servant or not,” sagot pa ni Alice sa tanong tungkol sa kahalagahan ng papel ng isang babae (o first lady) sa likod ng kanyang mister.  

“Narinig ko ‘to sa isang movie pero totoo po ito, that the men are the head of family but the women are the neck and we can actually direct where the head goes.

“If that makes any sense to any of you ladies and gentlemen,” at tumawa si Alice, “pero totoo ‘yan, you can actually sway or lead your man into the right direction also.”
