Gov’t execs tuloy pa rin sa senate ‘plundemic’ probe (Kahit pagbawalan ni Duterte)

 LALAHOK pa rin sa mga pagdinig na ipatatawag ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, na tinaguriang ‘plundemic’ probe, ang mga opisyal ng administrasyon kahit pagbawalan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

“While the Cabinet officials appreciate the concern of the President, e sila naman po, for purposes of transparency, pupunta pa rin po sa Senado dahil wala naman pong itinatago,” sabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque sa virtual Palace press briefing kahapon.

Nauna rito’y sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte na kailangan humingi muna sa kanya ng clearance ang sinomang miyembro ng kanyang gabinete bago dumalo sa Senate probe kaugnay ng iregularidad sa paggawad ng P12-bilyong medical supplies contract sa Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation ng Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM).

Naging bisyo rin ni Pangulong Duterte na ipagtanggol ang mga tauhan at kaalyadong isinasangkot sa maanomalyang transaksiyon habang binabatikos ang mga senador na nag-iimbestiga sa isyu.

Tinawag na ‘plundemic’ o plunder sa pandemic ng mga kritiko ng administrasyon ang Pharmally-PS-DBM deal.

Kaugnay nito, nanawagan ang ilang business groups at academic institutions sa mga opisyal ng administrasyong Duterte na makipagtulungan sa isinusulong na Senate ‘plundemic’ probe.  

Sa joint statement, sinabi ng mga grupo, marapat na ipagkaloob sa sambayanang Filipino ang buo at patas na pagtutuos kung paano ginasta ang pondo ng bayan para tugunan ang CoVid-19 pandemic.

“The allegations, testimonies, and documents provided regarding the use of public funds meant to acquire items to minimize the use of public funds meant to acquire items to minimize the threat to the lives of our citizens occasioned by the pandemic are very sobering,” anila sa kalatas.

“If true, the context would make the wrongdoing particularly onerous and deserving of the full force of sanctions on its perpetrators that our justice system provides,” anila.

Kabilang sa mga lumagda sa joint statement ang Bishops-Businessmen’s Conference, Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines,  Investment Houses Association of the Philippines, Judicial Reform Initiative, the Management Association of the Philippines,  Makati Business Club, at ang Shareholders Association of the Philippines.

Pumirma rin ang Ateneo de Manila University,  Ateneo de Naga University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, De La Salle University, at De La Salle Philippines.
