Evasco pinabalik bilang ‘damage controlman’ ng Duterte admin (Palasyo nangapa)

INAASAHANG magsisilbing ‘damage controlman’ ng administrasyong Duterte si Leoncio Evasco, Jr., kaya ibinalik bilang miyembro ng gabinete.

Si Evasco, dating rebel priest, malapit na kaibigan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at dati niyang Cabinet  secretary, ay itinalaga kahapon ng Punong Ehekutibo bilang Presidential Adviser on Streamlining of Government Processes na may ranggong Secretary.

“The appointment of former Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco, Jr., is expected to resolve bureaucratic inefficiencies hounding government’s response to the coronavirus crisis and various reforms,” ayon kay Infrawatch PH convenor Terry Ridon.

Aniya, imbes walang habas na red-tagging ang ginawa ng Pangulo mas dapat na pinagtuunan ang mas mahahalagang isyu.

Isang welcome development ang paghirang kay Evasco na magsisilbing ‘troubleshooter’ sa mga sinsasabing ‘kapalpakan’ ng administrasyong Duterte.

“We view Secretary Evasco’s return to Malacañang as a welcome development despite the President’s recent remarks focusing on red-tagging instead of the more pressing tasks at hand,” ani Ridon.

“With a single cabinet-level authority to untangle inefficiencies, this should expedite government permits on telco towers, avoid future SAP eligibility disarray and cut unnecessary processes in government projects,” dagdag niya.

Iginiit ni Ridon, importanteng maipakita sa buong bansa ang kahalagahan ng liderato sa panahon ng pandemya at bagsak na ekonomiya.

“As we confront the pandemic and an economy in tatters, it is imperative to show the nation that more than anything, leadership matters,” aniya.

Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, malaki ang maiaambag ng naging karanasan ni Evasco sa kasalukuyang burukrasya sa bagong papel niyang tapyasin ang mga proseso sa sangay ng Ehekutibo.

“PA Evasco is not new in the Duterte Administration having served as Cabinet Secretary in the early years of the current administration. His familiarity with the present bureaucracy would contribute greatly in his new task of streamlining government processes in the Executive,” ani Roque.

Matatandaan, sinibak ni Pangulong Duterte noong Abril 2018 si noo’y Cabinet Secretary Evasco bilang NFA Council chairman sa panahong isinusulong ng Cabinet Secretary ang special audit sa kuwestiyonableng pagbebenta ng apat na milyong sako ng bigas mula Oktubre 2017 hanggang Enero 2018 ni dating National Food Authority (NFA) Administrator Jason Aquino.
