Telcos ipasasara kapag ‘di umayos (Hanggang Disyembre 2020)

NAGBANTA si Pangulong Duterte na ipasasara ang lahat ng telecommunications company at kokompiskahin ng gobyerno kapag hindi inayos ang kanilang serbisyo hanggang Disyembre.

“Kindly improve the services before December. I want to call Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, better have that line cleared…If you are not ready to improve, I might just as well close all of you and we revert back to the line telephone at kukunin ko ‘yan,” anang Pangulo.

“Kung ganon din naman ang ibigay n’yo sa amin, we are a republic sovereign country, bear that in mind because patience of the Filipino people is reaching its limit and I will be the one to articulate the anger of the Filipino people,” dagdag niya.

Kung wala aniyang pera ang mga may-ari ng telcos para ayusin ang kanilang serbisyo ay mas mabuting i-takeover ng gobyerno ang operasyon nito at may dalawang taon pa ang kanyang administrasyon upang pagandahin ang telecommunications sa bansa.

“I will find a way. I will talk to Congress and find a way how to do it,” sabi ng Pangulo.

Ang Globe Telecom ay pagmamay-ari ng Ayala Corp, ang Smart ay sa negosyanteng si Manuel V. Pangilinan habang ang third telco player na DITO Telecommunity ay kay Duterte crony Dennis Uy.

Sa ipinadalang kalatas sa media kahapon, kinontra ni Infrawatch PH Convenor, dating Kabataan party-list Rep. at dating House Information and Communications Technology committee member Terry Ridon na hindi kakulangan sa puhunan ang dahilan ng dispalinghadong telco services.

Kung seryoso aniya si Pangulong Duterte sa pagpapaganda ng serbisyo ng telcos, dapat utusan niya ang iba’t ibang ahensiya ng pamahalaan maging ang mga lokal na pamahalaan na madaliin ang pag-aproba sa 25 regulatory permits para sa pagtatayo ng single cell tower.

Ang mga naturang permit aniya ang nagsisilbing hadlang sa pagsasaayos ng telco services sa bansa.

“Each and every regulatory permit requires dealing with a separate set of government officials, with different ways of interpreting law and regulation. Worse, some are more interested in ‘illicit transactions’ for these permits. The President’s Christmas deadline is unrealistic and would open the floodgates of further illicit transactions,” giit ni Ridon. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
