Kontrobersiyal na ex-warden bagong BuCor chief

ITINALAGA ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Gerald Bantag bilang bagong director ng Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) kapalit ng sinibak na si Nicanor Faeldon.

Sa kalatas ni Pre­sidential Spokesman Sal­vador Panelo, ang paghi­rang kay Bantag ay bun­sod ng kanyang “profes­sional competence and honesty.”

“The Palace is behind the President’s decision and is confident that DG Bantag will continue the Administration’s cam­paign against corruption as he spear­heads reform initiatives in the Bureau,” ani Panelo.

Matatandaan, noong Parañaque jail warden si Bantag ay naging kontro­bersiyal nang makasuhan ng 10 counts of murder dahil nagkaroon ng pag­sabog ng granada sa loob ng Parañaque City Jail na ikinamatay ng 10 preso  na sina Jacky Huang; Yonghan Cai, kapwa Chinese nationals at may kasong droga; Waren Manampen; Ro­nald Dom­dom; Rodel Dom­dom; Danilo Pineda; Joseph Villasor; Oliver Sarreal; Jeremy Flores at Jonathan Ilas.
