POSIBLENG hindi makapagtapos ng pag-aaral ang 320,000 scholars ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) matapos bawasan ng Senado ng P3 bilyon ang pondo nito.
Apektado rin umano, ang mga nasa drug rehabilitation centers at rebel returnees dahil sa nasabing pagbabawas.
Ayon kay Camarines Sur Rep. Rolando “Nonoy” Andaya, Jr., pinuno ng House committee on appropriations, tinanggal ng Senado ang P3 bilyon sa budget nito.
“[The] P3-billion [funds are intended] for scholarship of rebel returnees, out-of-school youths and rehabilitating drug dependents enrolled under the Universal Access to Tertiary Education. As a result, at least 320,000 students enrolled under the program will lose their scholarship this year,” ani Andaya.
Nauna nang inakusahan ni Andaya ang Senado ng pagsasabotahe sa mga programa ni Pangulong Duterte partikular na ang “Build, Build, Build Program” matapos rin kaltasan ng P83 bilyones.
Hinamon ni Andaya si Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III na ipaliwanag ang mga budget cuts at pangalanan ang mga senador na nagtulak nito.
Aniya, dapat din ipaliwanag ni Sotto kung saan dinala ang mga budget na kinuha sa “Build, Build, Build” at sa TESDA.
“All he (Sotto) has to do is explain to the public why the Senate slashed the budget not only of Build, Build, Build projects. Now is also the time for him to reveal the names of all senators who made budget cuts and show the items where these were realigned,” giit ni Andaya.
Ayon kay Andaya ang mga budget cut ay hindi napag-usapan sa bicameral conference committee. Maliban sa TESDA at Build Build Build program, ang mga ahensiyang binawasan ay Department of Transportation (DOTr) – P5 bilyon para sa right-of-way projects; Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – P11.033 bilyon para sa right-of-way projects; Foreign Assisted Projects (FAP) sa ilalim ng DPWH na P2.5 bilyon.
Ayon kay Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo malapit nang lagdaan ng pangulo ang national budget.
