Globe Telecom bags two major recognitions at 2018 The Asset Corporate Awards

GLOBE Telecom bagged two major recognitions from Hong Kong-based The Asset Corporate Awards, acknowledging its exceptional work in environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) initiatives. This year marks the seventh time Globe was recognized by the longest-running ESG award-giving body in Asia.

Aside from the Platinum award given by The Asset Corporate Awards for the telco’s consistent excellent performance in the ESG space, Globe also bagged the Best Initiatives in Social Responsibility award for its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP). DTP is a multi award-winning program by Globe, Optus, and Singtel aimed at turning the Filipino youth into responsible online citizens through a series of workshops on digital citizenship.

A study conducted by Nielsen showed that students who underwent DTP showed positive behavioral changes in cyber safety. The number of students taking measures to keep their online information safe and secure has increased remarkably, from 74% to 95% after DTP workshops. DTP is one of Globe initiatives to support United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly No. 4 (Quality Education), No. 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and No. 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

“We are deeply honored to be recognized as one of Asia’s best listed companies when it comes to ESG practices. Embedding sustainability in every business decision enables us to further improve our service to our customers, delight our shareholders, and ultimately contribute to positive societal change,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications.

The Asset Corporate Awards consists of three categories: Platinum, Gold and Titanium. It undergoes a rigorous benchmarking service for listed companies in Asia when it comes to corporate sustainability, allowing firms to join an exclusive and elite sphere of top corporations.

The criteria for evaluating these listed firms include a range of metrics on the quality of their governance, social responsibility, environmental responsibility and investor relations.

Since its inception in 2001, the Asset Corporate Awards has enabled past winners to strengthen its credentials when it comes to showcasing their ESG efforts. Globe won the Platinum award in 2017, 2016, 2014, 2013, 2010, and 2009.
