NAGPASALAMAT ang Palasyo sa Consultative Committee sa pagtalima sa hirit ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na ipagbawal na muli siyang mahalal matapos ang kanyang termino sa 2022.

Nakasaad sa “final copy” ng panukalang Federal Constitution na maghahalal ng transition president kapag pumasa ang bagong Saligang Batas.

“We thank the Consultative Committee for accommodating the President’s request to provide for an elected transition president. This should finally allay all fears that PRRD has other motives for wanting to shift to a Federal form of government,” ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.

Batay sa inilabas na “official final copy” ng 22-man Consultative Committee, nakasaad sa Section 2, Article XXII ng Federal Constitution, “The incumbent President is prohibited from running as President in the 2022 elections.”

Nauna nang inihayag ng Pangulo, hindi niya ipamamana ang Palasyo kay Vice President Leni Robredo kapag nagbitiw siya bilang pagbibigay-daan sa transition president.
