BILANG paghahanda sa misyong grand slam na kampeonato sa National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 94, mangingibang bansa ang San Beda Red Lions upang sumali sa 29th Dubai International Basketball Tournament mula 19-26 Enero sa United Arab Emirates.
Kinompirma mismo ni San Beda team manager Jude Roque kamakalawa.
“We got this rare invitation to join this prestigious tournament, and represent the country against the top teams in West Asia. It’s a great opportunity to learn from the tough competition. At the same time, it’s an honor to play in front of our fellow Filipinos in Dubai,” aniya.
Pangungunahan ng Gilas prospects na sina Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon at Kemark Cariño ang Red Lions na hangad madepensa ang kanilang titulo sa papalapit na NCAA 94.
Sasamahan sila nina Donald Tankoua, Arnaud Noah, Eugene Toba, AC Soberano, Clint Doliguez, Joe Presbitero, Franz Abuda, Calvin Oftana, Ben Adamos, Jeramer Cabanag, JB Bahio, at Radge Tongco.
“Our young players will surely gain from this experience. We expect to come back home as a better team,” dagdag ni Roque.
Makakalaban ng San Beda ang magigilas na national at club teams sa Middle East tulad ng United Arab Emirates national team, Al Ahly at Zamalek ng Egypt, Al-Riyadi, Homentmen ng Lebanon, Al-Hikma at AS Sale ng Morocco, ES Radès ng Tunisia at Al-Nasr ng Libya sa walong araw na kompetisyong gaganapin sa Al Ahli Sporting Club sa UAE.
Noong nakaraang taon, sumali ang representante ng Filipinas na Mighty Sports sa naturang patimpalak ngunit nagkasya sa 1-5 kartada kahit kasama sina Justin Brownlee at Kiefer Ravena. (JBU)
