P40-B budget aprub sa Kamara (Mahigit 1-M estudyante libre sa SUCs)

MAHIGIT isang milyong estud-yante sa mga pampublikong kolehiyo at unibersidad sa buong bansa ang inaasahang makikinabang sa P40 bilyon pondong ilalaan ng administrasyong Duterte para sa implementasyon ng free public college education law sa 2018.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella, welcome sa Palasyo ang pagpabor ng Camara de Representantes sa P40 bilyon para sa “free tertiary public education,” isang “cornerstone” ng social development policy ng administrasyong Duterte.

“We welcome the move of the House of Representatives for allotting P40 billion next year for free college education in state universities and colleges and locally funded colleges. Free tertiary public education is a cornerstone of the social development policy of the Duterte administration,” aniya.

Matatandaan, nilagdaan ni Pangulong Duterte noong nakalipas na buwan ang Republic Act 10931, o ang Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act upang magkaroon ng patas na oportunidad sa dekalidad na tertiary education ang lahat ng mga Filipino at bigyang prayoridad makapagtapos sa pag-aaral ang mga maralitang estudyante.

Umaasa ang Malacañang sa buong suporta ng Senado sa inisyatiba ng Kamara upang makapagsimula nang makapag-aral nang libre sa pampublikong kolehiyo at unibersidad ang mahihirap na mag-aaral.

“We hope that the Senate would fully support the House initiative so that more than one million students in our public universities and colleges can enjoy free tuition and miscellaneous fees starting June 2018. The P40 billion would also provide additional stipends for very poor students and allow parents to borrow low-interest loans to help their children complete their education,” dagdag ni Abella.
