Digong papabor sa security cluster ng gabinete (Sa peace talks sa CPP-NPA-NDF)

HINDI makapagpapasyang mag-isa si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa usapin nang pagpapatuloy ng usapang pangkapayaan ng gobyerno at Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

Hihingin ni Pangulong Duterte ang opinyon ng mga miyembro ng security cluster ng kanyang gabinete bago magpasya ng susunod na hakbang kaugnay sa peace talks sa kilusang komunista, ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella.

Giit niya, kailangan ikonsidera ang napakaraming buhay na nawala, sibilyan man o tropa ng pamahalaan, mga ari-ariang nawasak bago bumalik sa hapag ng negosasyon ang government peace panel.

Tiniyak ni Abella, hindi lulubayan ng gobyernong Duterte ang pagtugon sa mga problema na naging ugat ng armadong tunggalian sa bansa.

“On the resumption of peace talks, to resume talks necessitates President Duterte to consult first with the members of his security cluster, considering the many lives lost, civilian and government property destroyed before returning to the negotiating table with the CPP/NPA/NDFP. The President likewise has to confer with the other branches of government regarding matters require their consent/approval. In spite of PRRD’s firm position to protect the nation from violence and terrorism, his fundamental goal is sustainable and lasting peace, which in this case begins with addressing the social injustice as the historical root of conflict,” ani Abella.

Matatandaan, nagpasya si Duterte na itigil ang peace talks makaraan batikusin ng CPP ang idineklara niyang Martial Law sa Mindanao bunsod ng Marawi crisis, at nang utusan ng central committee ng partido komunista ang NPA na paigtingin ang pag-atake sa tropa ng pamahalaan.
