Lobby money sa CA iginiit ng Palasyo (Hindi lahat, pero meron)

HINDI nilahat ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang mga mambabatas na bumubuo ng Commission on Appointments (CA), nang isiwalat niya na tumanggap ng lobby money para ilaglag ang kompirmasyon ni Gina Lopez bilang kalihim ng Department of Environment ang Natural Resources (DENR).

Paliwanag ni Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, ang pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte hinggil sa lobby money ay nagpatampok sa pag-iral ng pansariling interes ng ilang opisyal ng CA.

Ngunit hindi aniya ito nakabawas sa integridad ng CA dahil ang ilang kasapi nito’y nagpasya batay sa kanilang prinsipyo at konsensiya, katunayan ay lumutang pa upang ipaliwanag ang kanilang boto.

“PRRD’s statement that there was lobby mo-ney highlights the existence of certain vested interests in the appointment of officials.  This, however, does not in any way diminish the integrity of the Commission on Appointments (CA).  Some members of the Commission have decided according to principle and conscience and even came out to explain their vote,” ani Abella.

Giit niya, iginagalang  ni Pangulong Duterte ang kalayaan ng CA, at ang hindi niya pakikialam sa proseso ng kompirmasyon ni Lopez ay patunay sa pagkilala niya sa kapangyarihan nito na labas sa sangay ng Ehekutibo.

“The President respects the independence of the Commission on Appointments (CA). The fact that he did not interfere during the confirmation process of the erstwhile DENR Secretary shows his deference to the body,” dagdag niya.
