Immigration ban ni Trump inirerespeto ng Palasyo

INIHAYAG ng  Malacañang, inirerespeto nila ang immigration policies ni US President Donald Trump makaraan pansamantalang suspendehin ng American leader ang pagpasok sa Amerika ng mga refugee at mga bisita mula sa pitong Muslim-majority countries.

“We respect the policy of the United States of America if they have prohibitions or they would be banning people from entering their country because that is their right,” pahayag ni Communications Assistant Secretary Ana Maria Banaag kahapon.

Nitong Biyernes, nagpatupad si Trump ng “four-month hold” sa pagpapahintulot sa pagpasok sa Amerika ng mga refugee, at pansamantalang ipinagbawal ang pagpasok ng mga biyahero mula Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria at Yemen, gayondin ang green card holders na legal permanent residents ng Estados Unidos.

Sinabi ni Banaag, masyado pang maaga para magkomento ang Palasyo kaugnay sa immigration policies ni Trump, dahil hindi pa nakararating sa Philippine embassy.

Nang itanong kung ano ang plano ng gobyerno ng Filipinas para ma-assist ang local travelers na maaaring hindi papasukin sa US, sinabi ni Banaag, “What we can do perhaps would be to let the DFA negotiate on that matter. However, we would respect kung ano man ang regulasyon ng embahada o ng US on that matter.”
