Resolusyon sa extension ng SOCE ng LP pinamamadali

NANAWAGAN si incoming House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) na ilabas agad ang resolusyong nagpahintulot sa Liberal Party (LP) para sa 14-day extension nang paghahain ng statement of contributions and expenditures (SOCE).

Ayon kay Alvarez, mahalaga ang nasabing resolusyon ng Comelec para magbigyan ng pagkakataon ang sino man na kuwestiyonin sa Supreme Court ang legalidad sa pagpapalawig nang pagsusumite sa SOCE ng LP.

“Right or wrong, there seems to be a public perception that the release of the resolution is being held in abeyance until after the sought-for 14-day extension lapses so it may no longer be questioned before the SC,” ani Alvarez.

“If this is true, the Comelec may end up as a damaged institution as it will be a party to two very serious violations – extending the non-extendible deadline in the filing of SOCEs and depriving the people of the right to question that extension before the SC,” diin ni Alvarez.

Ani Alvarez, kaya landslide ang panalo ni incoming President Rodrigo Duterte sa nakaraang eleksiyon ay dahil pagod na ang mga Filipino sa gobyernong nagsisilbi hindi para sa kapakanan ng mamamayan kundi para sa kapangyarihan lamang gaya nang papaalis na administrasyon.

“The Comelec should have been the first to uphold the SOCE provision of Republic Act No. 7166, which states that all candidates, winners or losers, must file their SOCEs within 30 days after the elections,” paliwanag ni Alvarez.

Ipinunto ng opisyal, ang late filing ay gaya na rin nang hindi pagsumite ng SOCE na ang kaparusahan ay hindi pagpapaupo sa puwesto nang nanalong kandidato.
