Breast Cancer Center sa QC iminungkahi ng kongresista

SA PAGGUNITA ng World Cancer Day iminungkahi ni Quezon City District V Rep. PM Vargas ang agarang pag aproba ng Mammography and Breast Cancer Center sa  Novaliches, Quezon City.

Ang panukala Numero 3500 na tinawag na “An Act Establishing a Mammography and Breast Cancer Center in Novaliches” ay naglalayong magbigay ng madali at abot-kayang  “breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and, treatment services for women” sa Lungsod Quezon at karatig na mga lugar.

“Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Filipinas with thousands of new cases detected annually. Through this bill, we aim to bring essential breast cancer services, through early detection and proper treatment, particularly in District V, where access to specialized health care remains a challenge,” ayon kay Vargas.

Ang Mammography at Breast Cancer Center ay magkakaroon ng “state-of-the-art facilities” para sa “breast cancer screening, early diagnosis, and patient support programs.”

Ani Vargas, magbibigay subsidiya ang Cancer Center sa Mammography ng mahihirap na pasyente.

Nanawagan si Vargas sa kapwa mambabatas na suportahan ang pagpasa ng panukalang ito na kasalukuyang nasa Committee on Health.

Ang laban sa cancer ay malapit kay Vargas at sa kanyang kapatid na si dating kongresista na ngayon ay Konsehal Alfred Vargas, dahil sa pagkamatay ng nanay nila sa cancer.

Si Konsehal Alfred Vargas ay isa sa mga awtor ng Republic Act 11215 na tinawag na National Integrated Cancer Care Act.

“Having experienced it firsthand, we understand the emotional, physical, and financial toll that the disease takes in every affected family. As lawmakers, we are in a vantage point where we can champion stronger policies that ease the struggles of cancer patients and their loved ones,” ayon kay Vargas.

Base sa rekord ng World Health Organization, noong 2022, ang Filipinas as isa sa may pinakamataas na bilang ng breast cancer sa Asya at pangatlo ang cancer sa sanhi ng kamatayan sa bansa.

Ang World Cancer Day ay ginaganap tuwing 4 Pebrero para pukawin ang kamulatan ng taongbayan tungkol sa cancer at hikayatin sila na gumawa ng hakbang upang puksain ito. (GERRY BALDO)
