BOLD and daring. Sa Tagalog, matapang at walang takot. Ito ang gustong ipakahulugan ng pambato ng Pasig na si Kali Navea Huff sa isinuot niyang gown sa preliminary competition ng Miss Universe Philippines 2023 na isinagawa sa Okada Manila Grand Ballroom noong Miyerkoles, Mayo 10.
Inspirasyon ng gown ni Kali na likha ni iconic designer Rau Uson, ang mga iconic queen ng Miss Universe.
Aniya, “My preliminary gown was inspired by the iconic queens of Miss Universe, those who never stopped taking risks to be worthy of the crown, and is a reminder to myself to never stop being bold.”
Ang napakagandang gown ay kumakatawan din sa mga pagsubok niya sa buhay.
“This work of art that embodies the risks I’ve taken in my life and the passion that fuels my journey as a transformational leader. I’ve always believed that transforming is about deviating from the standard, and forging a path that shows the Universe you are a force to be reckoned with ,” sambit ni Kali na kumukuha ng International Law ngayon sa FEU.
Idinagdag pa ni Kali na, “And today, I wore this dress as a symbol of the bold and daring women before me who have guided me on my own journey in taking the risks necessary to make a change, and be worthy of the Universe
Isang beauty queen mentor si Kali dahil siya ang head Q&A at interview trainer ng Aces and Queens, na siyang nagpo-prodyus ng mga beauty queens tulad ni Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, at Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa. Ngayon, ginagamit niya ang kanyang kaalaman at kahusayan sa kanyang sarili sa pagsali sa Miss Universe Philippines 2023.
‘Ika nga niya sa kanyang Instagram post, “My goal will always be to encourage my fellow Filipino to realize that we all have a platform; no matter your background, age, gender, or degree, you have a point of view that can be transformational and a voice that is always valid.
“I hope to share my new platform with people who feel that their voices have been silenced, or that they are not enough, and empower them to share their story with the Universe,” dagdag pa niya.
Isang karangalan para kay Kali na mapili at katawanin ang kanyang syudad, ang Pasig.
“I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to bring my city, community, and causes to the Universe I hope to bring what I’ve learned throughout the past 27 years – all the moments of success, uncertainty, insecurity, empowerment, and everything in between – with the hopes that others may see their story in me and they too can feel that there is power in their experience.”
Layunin din ni Kali na ipamulat sa mga Filipino na ang bawat isa’y may platform para maipahayag ang saloobin.
