Sim Card registration act pipirmahan ni FM Jr. ngayon

NAKATAKDANG lagdaan ngayong araw ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., ang SIM Card Registration Act upang isulong ang pananagutan sa paggamit ng SIM cards at makatulong sa mga awtroridad sa pagtugis sa mga kriminal na ang gamit ay ang cellular phone sa paggawa ng krimen.

Sa ilalim ng batas, lahat ng  public telecommunications entities (PTE) o direct sellers ay oobligahin ang SIM card user na magpresinta ng isang valid identification document na may larawan.

“Any information in the SIM card registration shall be treated as confidential unless the subscriber authorizes access to his information,” ayon sa kalatas ng Office of the Press Secretary.

Inaatasan ng batas ang telco firms na ideklara ang buong pangalan at address na nakalagay sa SIM card registration kapag iniutos ng hukuman.

Habang ang mga tagapagpatupad ng batas na nagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon sa mga krimeng ginamit ng cellular phone ay maaaring magsumite ng written request sa telco firms na sabihin ang mga detalye ng SIM card holder.

“President Marcos’ decision to approve the measure will significantly boost government initiatives against scams committed through text and online messages, which have become more prevalent this year.”

Nauna rito’y nagpahayag ng suporta ang Globe Telecom Inc., at Smart Communications Inc., sa SIM card registration at tiniyak na tutulong sa gobyerno sa paglaban sa krimen na isinagawa electronically. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
