Palasyo umaasang PH-US relations magpapatuloy (Sa administrasyon ni Biden)

UMAASA ang Malacañang na magpa­patuloy ang pagtutu­lungan ng Filipinas at Amerika tungo sa mas malaya at mas mapa­yapang mundo sa pag-upo ni Joe Biden bilang ika-46 pangulo ng US.

“We in the Philippines look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with the United States in working together for a freer, more peaceful world,” sabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque sa virtual Palace press briefing kahapon.

Nagpaabot aniya si Pangulong Duterte ng kanyang  “warmest greetings” at “best wishes” kina Biden at Vice President Kamala Harris pero hindi niya alam kung tatawagan ng Pangulo si Biden gaya nang ginawa kay Donald Trump noong 2016 matapos manalo sa presidential elections.

“We’re confident that President Biden will wear his mantle of leadership with pride and with due regard to the hopes and admiration of the rest of the world.”

Sa kanyang unang mga oras sa White House ay nilagdaan ni Biden ang ilang executive order na nagbaligtad sa ilang patakaran ni Trump sa immigration at climate change.

Naunang inihayag ni Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez  na makikinabang ang mga Pinoy sa Amerika sa immigration policies ni Biden dahil suportado ang paggagawd ng US citizenship sa milyon-milyong immigrant doon.

Si Biden ang Vice President ni President Barack Obama na minura ni Duterte noong 2016 dahil binatikos ang kanyang drug war.
