Parangal kay Yulo at Petecio inihain ng Solon sa Kamara

NAGHAIN si Marin­duque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco ng dalawang resolusyon upang kila­lanin ang karangalang ibinigay ng dalawang atleta na sina Carlos Edriel Yulo at si Nesthy Petecio sa pag-uwi ng gold medal sa gymnastics at sa women’s boxing.

Si Yulo ay Nanalo ng gold medal sa 49th FIG (Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique) Artistic Gymnastics World Championship, at si Nesthy Petecio naman ay gold medal sa 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships na ginanap sa Ulan-Ude, Russia.

Tinalo ni Yulo ang pam­bato ng Israel na si Artem Dolgopyat at si Xiao Ruoteng ng China sa score na 15.300 noong 12 Oktubre.

Nauna nang nasung­kit ni Yulo ang pangala­wang puwesto sa Olym­pic Games sa 2020 sa Tokyo sunod sa Pinoy na pole vaulter na si EJ Obiena.

Ani Velasco, magan­da ang performance ni Yulo sa ilalim ng training ng kanyang Japanese coach na si Munehiro Kugimiya na nakabase sa Tokyo, Japan.

“Yulo’s performance is a true showcase of each and every Filipino athlete’s puso and will serve as an inspiration for present and future generations of Filipino athletes to aspire for greater success in the world stage,” ani Velasco sa resolusyon.

“Yulo’s victory in the world championship is the victory of the Filipino nation and shall serve as a good platform for his preparations in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games,” sinabi sa resolusyon.

Sa sunod na araw, noong 13 Oktubre 2019, nanalo si Petecio sa pama­magitan ng split decision laban sa Russian na si Liudmila Vorontso­va sa finals ng 2019 Aiba Women’s World Boxing Championships sa FSK Sports Complex sa Ulan-Ude, Russia.

“Her magnificent feat secured her a gold medal finish in the featherweight division of the world tournament,” ani Velasco.

Tatlong beses nang nanalo ng silver si Petecio sa Southeast Asian Games at lumaban sa lima bago kay Vorontsova sa finals upang maka­kuha ng gold.

“Nesthy Petecio’s performance in the world championship lights an even greater fire in the hearts of all Filipino women athletes who are preparing for and will compete in the Southeast Asian Games that will take place here in Manila next month,” ayon sa resolusyon ni Velasco.
