NAKILALA si Direk Joel Ferrer bilang isang aktor, writer, direktor sa mga pelikulang Baka Siguro Yata (2015), Blue Bustamante (2013), at Hello World (2013). At sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon nagdirehe siya at pinagkatiwalaan ng Regal Films sa mainstream movie na Woke Up Like This na mapapanood na sa Agosto 23 sa mga sinehan.
Ayon kay Ferrer, bagong atake ang pelikula ukol sa gender bender genre na hindi karaniwang napapanood. “Sobrang interesting take ito both for Lovi (Poe) and Vhong (Navarro) which is both exciting to shoot and watch.”
Na-challenge si Ferrer sa Woke Up Like This dahil ibang grupo na naman ang katrabaho niya. “Maybe getting used with a different team I’m used to, which I’m really excited about because I like working with different people all the time, and the fact that I didn’t write the script, which for me is pretty exciting, because I get to brainstorm new ans freah ideas with Jeps and Joma (the writers).”
Sinabi pa ni Ferrer na naging inspirasyon niya sa paggawa ng pelikula ang idea ni ibinigay ni Roselle Monteverde.
At kung ipade-describe kay Direk Ferrer ang kanyang mga artista at ang pelikula, sinabi nitong, “Very light and very professional. Everyone is dpong their job well. I’m so happy to have worked with seasoned staff and crew. The cast are so great, very professional and they give insights to the characters and play them so well. There’s so much love in this film with both the cast and crew.
